Gibson USA has created this special Jonas Brothers Melody Maker, a guitar designed in the image of the original single-cutaway Melody Maker of 1959/'60, but with popular upgrades to solidify its status as a genuine tone machine. For several years, players in the know have turned to the Melody Maker as an accessible piece of genuine Gibson tonal splendor, and added their own slight modifications to turn this entry-level guitar into a true rock monster. To a thin and lightweight yet extremely resonant mahogany body like Gibson's original "student" model and the Melody Maker's simplified hardware and control layout, the Jonas Brothers Melody Maker adds a traditional full-size headstock for increased resonance and strength, and the addition of a second P-90 single-coil pickup, as originally carried on the Melody Maker's big brother, the Les Paul Special, along with other upgrades. To make it all stand out in pure Jonas Brothers style, all three brothers have hand”signed the pickguard and their trademark "JB" shield graphic adorns the front of the Satin White-finished body.
Through the course of four hit albums, two Disney Camp Rock movies and other film appearances, and several music awards, the Jonas Brothers have established a reputation for making widely appealing pop music. Songs like "SOS," "Burnin' Up" and "Lovebug" also glisten with a gutsy rock edge and attitude, however, and display the brothers' fondness for a chunky electric guitar. And through it all, the Jonas Brothers have favored Gibson guitars.
P-90 Tonal Characteristics
A favorite of rock, blues and pop players, P”90s are beloved for their crisp yet silky highs, punchy midrange, and slightly textured overall tonality. They are single”coil pickups that offer plenty of bite in all positions, yet they retain much of the punch and aggression of vintage humbuckers, too. In the neck position the P”90 is warm, thick and creamy but with plenty of clarity, while in the bridge offers crunchy rhythm tones and gnarly, screaming lead tones through a cranked amp.
Originally introduced as a student model, much like the Les Paul Junior, the Melody Maker became a player's favorite for its light weight, comfortable neck, and great tone.

Bought one for my Kid, and I'm impressed. Gibson did a great job on this one. Ebony Fretboard, twin p-90s, full size headstock, and a mahogany body/ neck with Les Paul styling. Great axe, sounds awesome. Not a kids toy, but a professional quality instrument. Too bad production is only limited to 300, cus this melody maker has a recipe for success.
I played Melody Makers back when I was young like the Jonas Brothers because they were the only Gibsons I could afford. When I saw that the Jonas Brothers model had twin P-90s, Les Paul Jr. shape body, and slim taper full head stock neck with ebony finger board I had to get one. This guitar is absolutely a blast to play and sounds great. The thinner body gives it a semi bright tone and the P-90's add just the right amount of growl. If you've got the $699 then get this guitar it will become another made in the USA Gibson treasure!
