Overview

The Gibson Hummingbird Artist is a square shoulder dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar handcrafted in the USA. Featuring a washed heritage cherry finish; solid, premium Sitka spruce top; and mahogany back and sides, this arresting acoustic-electric's tone is as ruby-throated as its namesake! A round mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard gives your fingers the ability to take flight over mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays.

Plug the Hummingbird guitar in and jam with an L.R. Baggs Element undersaddle transducer and preamp that keeps the look clean with an ingenious soundhole mounted volume control. Binding is 6-ply on top and 4-ply on the back. Gold keystone tuners, a mother-of-pearl crown inlay on the headstock, tortoise pickguard and a traditional Gibson rosewood bridge complete the look. Gibson includes a premium hardshell case with each Hummingbird guitar.

A no Bird Hummingbird

By Rudy

from El Paso, Texas

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned my no bird for 5 months and I just love it. The color, the feel of the neck and the balance of the guitar is incredible. I always have wanted a Hummingbird but could not afford one until this one came up. I know the pickguard does not have the Hummingbird like the expensive ones do. But the price is just right. The sound is loud when unplugged. Plugged in sounds great too.

FANTASTIC GUITAR

By Michael Jones

from Dora, AL

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Don't be fooled by the price, this is a very well built Gibson. I own several guitars and out of all of them this is my favorite. It plays like a dream. I prefer a lower action, so after a minor adjustment to the bridge bone I was off and running. You WILL also be very pleased with the L.R. Baggs Element undersaddle transducer and preamp. I've owned this guitar for 5 months now and it I recommended it highly.

Incredible Guitar!!!

By Adam

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is the best guitar i have ever played. I did tons and tons of research on guitars and my instructer recommended this one to me and from the first time I picked it up and played it I fell in love. This guitar not only has the looks. It is also a very large bodied guitar that is very loud but can be mellow at the same time. I played Martins, Guilds, Taylors and everything else that you could imagine and NOTHING came close to this. While all of the Martins and Taylors were very nice they were very nice on the bottom ends but not so basey. This guitar has a very nice lower end as well as upper side. Alot of the guitars that have more of a base sounds are very heavy. Especially in the neck. The gibson is a very light guitar but the way it is weighted makes it so that it is sits on your lap perfectly when playing. I really love this guitar and would reccomemend it to anyone that has been playing guitar for 30 years or looking for a second or third guitar. You cant go wrong and it wont go down in value.

Hummingbird Artist GREAT TONE across the spectrum

By David

from Saint Louis Missouri

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays very very well .. but the single fact that grabbed my attention was the tone and strenght of sustain across the entire spectrum of sound from low thru a very Huge, Loud Bright midrange all the way to the high end. This is a loud guitar if you want to pick attack the chords strong it steps up to the plate and delivers. Great for flat picking !! But I use it for Chords compliment my voice and Its sounds wicked with a metal slide in any tunning. Best guitar from Gibson in a long time.

Voice of an Angel

By TJ Chapin

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Bought a week ago this to replace a '67 hummingbird that was stolen. Came close to buying a d-28 but after playing the Hummingbird Artist was sold after the first open E chord. Nice voicing, playability, pickup is very nice. The tone is unreal, worth every penny, keeping this one a long time.

Great guitar

By Jim W.

from Philly

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Have had this guitar for 6 months. I play it everyday. It has the nicest fretboard - it plays fast! I had a setup done after the purchase to go slightly lower. The sound is professional - balanced trebles to basses. Excellent bass. Great electronics. This guitar has made me better. No complaints. I haven't played anything better - and I've tried many in the stores.

Gibson Hummingbird Artist

By David Bible

from United States

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar has the "IT" factor. One of the best sounding mahagony guitars on the market, period. It even has a sweeter tone than the original, larger Hummingbird. This ruby velvet tone blows away the J-45 and most other mahagony guitars(back&sides). The LR Baggs pickup is also great sounding, defintely equal with the Fishman pickups. The playability is smooth and the neck is like butter; very simular to the Songwriter Deluxe ,but warmer sound than the Rosewood.Rings like a bell ,even without bone nut & saddle.A great buy at this price. Grab it NOW!

Great Tone

By RP

from California

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for a year and a half and play/perform about six hours per week. The tone is beautiful and has a very warm accoustic sound. I play with a larger band and the sound sits right in the mid-range pocket and fills the background nicely. The neck is comfortable and fast. The finish has faded where the guitar rests on my jeans which disappointed me a bit and I have had to cut a new nut recently. Overall... fantastic.

Hummingbird Artist

By Chase

from Illinois

Comments about Gibson Hummingbird Artist Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Do not be misled. This is not the same body size as the original Hummingbird dreadnought. This model is slightly smaller with a narrower waist, very similar to that of the Songwriter Deluxe. Having said that, this guitar owns. This model offers a bit more of a balanced mid-range tone than the songwriter deluxe. This is due to its body of mohagany instead of rosewood. Its appearance speaks for itself. Great dread!
