One beautiful and great sounding guitar

By Brenda J. Ward

from Saint Louis , Missouri

Being a Gibson owner in past I've not always been impressed with Gibson guitars. I'm a owner of Martin and Gibson as well and I got to say I am very impressed the way this Hummingbird plays, sounds, and looks. This is one fantastic guitar. I was also very satisfied with the way this guitar was shipped and protected inside the boxes. A lot better than even Martins ships. You have no buyer remorse with this Hummingbird. Little pricey but as the old saying goes, " You get what you pay for ", holds true with Guitar as any quality product you purchase . Best Gibson I have ever owned and give it a 5 star.

This Gibson Hummingbird is your Stairway To Heaven...

By Alan Davis

from Allentown, Pa

I bought this guitar from Guitar Center, and I would like to give my local Guitar Center 5 stars (Whitehall, Pa.) for their premium service, and high quality inventory. Thank you Guitar Center for being the best place on earth to buy any guitar! Particularly if you live in the WhiteHall, Pa area. They are the best place to buy any guitar of your dreams. ...Onto the GIBSON HUMMINGBIRD, which you will find to be different from any other guitar on earth. Exquisite in looks, feel, and sound, tone, even smell...this guitar is like no other I have ever owned. And I've owned them all..Gibson, Martin and Taylor, Guild, Epiphone, RainSong...and more. This Gibson Hummingbird stands alone. No other guitar looks, plays or sounds like it. It will play all music well. It is perfect for the human voice and matches it like a glove for vocal work. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones once commented... "The Gibson Hummingbird is the only guitar you will ever need." I agree. Buy it today! You WILL LOVE THIS! Attain your goals, reach your dreams, climb your personal Stairway To Heaven with this picture perfect all time classic acoustic guitar, it will take you there...with ease! Is it expensive..definitely. Is it worth it? Definitely!

Worth EVERY Penny

By David Duncan

from Sterling, OK

Yes, 3K seems like an obscene amount to pay for a guitar. It took me 20 years to finally get my "Bird" and I've not been disappointed. Features: The shorter scale length (24 3/4) and slightly wider nut width (1.68") make the guitar great for finger style. The L.R. Baggs under saddle pickup sounds great. Quality and Reliability: I have looked and looked and can't find one flaw in workmanship on this guitar. The nitrocellulose finish has both backers and bashers. Time will tell. Look and Feel: This is the most beautiful guitar I've ever owned. Mine is more of a blonde sunburst than orange or red. The action and playability were perfect straight from the factory. Sound: My Hummingbird has a very balanced sound--even from bass to treble. As a former Martin owner, I was used to a boomy bass end--took a little getting used to.

Sell the house and GET THIS piece of ART

By jeff bleacher

from Fayetteville, N.C.

I purchased this guitar aprox. 3 months ago and I know that some of reading this will think I am stretching the truth but this instrument sounds better each and every time she is pulled from the case. I traded in my Martin which I thought would be tough, however I have had zero regrets. This baby plays like a songbird instead of a hummingbird. I have combined it with the Fishman SA220 and boy there is no shyness involved with this combo. I realize that this baby seems pricey, however you all know that it will only rise in valve and sound better with time. I guess I should also mention how beautiful this guitar is but that is really just secondary in my opinion, because we all have had beautiful girlfriends and wives but what really matters is what is on the inside. Well like my wife this guitar is beautiful on the inside and out. JUST buy it and you will not have any regrets. I give you my guarantee or I'll buy it from you!

An American Classic

By Nerve Specialist

from Minneapolis, Minnesota

As we all know, the classical guitar (nylon string) originates from Spain. So if you want a good one, you find a Spanish-made one. The steel-string guitar is an American invention, so if you want a good one of those, you find an American-made one. Two really good makers are Martin and Gibson. Martin has always been adept at making beautiful plain guitars; Gibson has always been exceptionally good at glitz. Their pickguards, especially, are often outlandish, and the Hummingbird is Gibson's acoustic masterpiece. It's both handsome and outrageous! I play mostly Atkins/Travis finger-style stuff. The tone is lusty, "furry" (furry in a good way) in the upper registers, and sweet. A nice blend. Play one. If it compliments your style, saddle up ۡ I did. (2007) Oops, there's the money problem. They're expensive. All I can say is this: sell all your lesser guitars for this single good one, live on weiner-water soup (for as long as you can) and keep driving that old pickup truck for another year or two to make it happen. I predict you'll be happy.

A Guitar to Appreciate

By Darren

from Massachusetts

I'm writing this review around the one year anniversary of purchasing a Hummingbird. I've played guitar for a little over 5 years now, and since the first song I've played, I always wanted my guitar to sound like the professionals. The Hummingbird has allowed me to do this. The chords that this guitar belts out are extremely crisp (and are getting more crisp with age), loud, and pleasing to the ears. The action is great, and it is fairly easy to play with medium strings. This instrument was a huge upgrade from a low budget Takamine, but worth the money; no regrets. A Hummingbird will last a lifetime, and it will never stop impressing me. I appreciate this guitar's quality, and the Hummingbird will always appreciate with time.

Someone's Stepping Stone

By Harry George

from Ohio

I got talked into a show at a college even though a didn't have a guitar. So, someone gave me one of these...which had be stepped on by a drunk and sort of repaired! No intonation about three quarters of the way up the neck of course, but it was still a fantastic guitar. I said to the guy, "I bet the owner is pretty upset." "Yeah, he feels like an idiot, but it still sounds good." Enough said. OK, not as compressed as a Dove or chilled as an Ovation for vigorious strumming and not as deep as a Martin for bluegrass G runs, but very good all around indeed.
