You can get the sweetest tones out from a Gibson explorer. I have been using this baby for 5 years and it is my favorite guitar by far. The clean is very nice when switching to bridge pick up. When you kick in that crunch pedal, all hell will break loose. Play all your favorite metal/rock riffs and rip your neighbor's ears off! The feel of this guitar is what I cannot get over. The paint finish is very smooth making the neck for easy sliding. The fret is made with precision and it is everything you expect from a Gibson. This is a great guitar.

I hav e played this guitar plenty of time hoping it will be better than the last time I played it, always in vain. One of my idols is Alan Collins of Lynurd Skynyrd and he plays an explorer. First of all this is a very heavy guitar, heavier that Les Pauls. Also the neck was not very fast, the pickups were very lifeless(I was surprised because Skynyrd sounds so good),and the the one I played had a whammy bar that did not work. If you are going to spend the money, the Epiphone version is much better than this one.

Good Guitar

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

I recently bought this guitar from guitar center and I couldnt be more pleased with it. The pinch harmonics that come out of this guitar are amazing! I run it through a marshall cab and crate head and it is the perfect match. This guitar is very versatile it sounds great with metal or jazz. The neck finish perfectly matches the body. The cherry finish is breath taking. I like everything about this guitar.

Amazing guitar!

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

Everyone from blues to jazz to metal players will tell you, this guitar is the main one to get. I use it as my main guitar while playing with my band and I have never had any problems with it. The pickups that come on it are superb and the neck glides so easily, I would recommend this guitar to anyone who knows how to play. Not for beginners.

X-plorer

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

It was either this or the SG, but i like the explorer more because of the sound and the balance. The neck doesnt hang low like my BC Rich which is awesome and i dont have to tune very often. Stock pickups are pretty good and i love how durable it is. I've already banged it on the wall a couple times on accident and so far nothing chip or scratched unlike my BC Rich. You should buy this guitar now or your not considered a human being!!!

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

With it's revolutionary body stlyle made from excelent wood and equiped with the most amazing technology from the ever-so-amazing Gibson Guitar Corporation, the Gibson Explorer is a definite must have for any guitar collector. It's no lie. This axe is a true metal machine which will bleed with the most extreme forms of heavy, thrash, melodic, and death metal that you could ever wish for. With it's 496R and 500T pickups, it is indeed the guitar made for those who wish to rock the house.............WITH MEGA METAL!!! I am a proud owner of one of these babies and have absoultely no complaints. It's simple perfection at it's prime. I would not trade this guitar for the whole world. It's that great. If your pockets aren't nervous, definetly consider this beauty for your collection. You won't be dissapointed and you will rock like never before.

I wan't an Explorer!

By Marcuson

from Milford, IL

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

I purchased my first Gibson Explorer in 1978, It was a natural mahogany with gold hardware. It playede everything from Blues to Jazz to Heavy Metal. Stayed in tune always and NEVER let me down. Due to unfortunate circumstances we parted ways. I recently test drove a brand new explorer at GC here in Chicago and let me say that is is every bit as nice as my 78. I plan to purchase one as soon as tax returns come in. Clayton

Outstanding Guitar for Any Style

By Ben

from Washington, DC

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

I bought an Explorer in black two years ago, and I will say that out of every guitar I've ever owned (LTD, Ibanez, Fender, Carvin) this guitar had the most bite, the best tone, and the best look for the price. I will never ever put anything but a 500T in my bridge pick-up slot again. When I used my back-up guitar for different tunings I actually had to turn my amp up to compensate for the difference. These pick-ups are HOT!!! I ran this thing through a couple of foot switches and into my Mesa Dual Rectifier. Best tone I've EVER gotten! Not sure what folks are complaining about as far as weight goes. I was surprised by how light this guitar is right off the bat. It made playing live a complete breeze. I always got compliments on it too. Hardware is solid (including the tone knobs you dinguses). Only thing I would improve upon is the tuning machines. I'm not a fan of Grovers at all, and would absolutely upgrade to locking tuners. I will be buying a new one in white very soon. Believe the 4 and 5 star reviews!!!

AMAZING!!!!

By Danny

from Miami

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

THIS GUITAR IS WORTH PAYING THE MONEY!!!! I bought one in classic white with an ebony fingerboard and it is soooo brutal and its all stock too!!! The guitar holds tune very well with the grover tuners. The pickups are hot, i did not need to change them at all. With the stock pickups, it sounds more brutal than my les paul studio which has active EMGs installed in it!!!! That is just amazing. If you are looking for a perfect axe of rock or thrash, this is the guitar for you, the neck pickup is also very bluesy sounding. It sounds bluesier than any strat on a blues channel with the neck pickup on. Get it, its worth the money.

Beast!! thats all I can say!

By Thrasher

from St. Louis Missouri

Comments about Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar:

This guitar is absolutley a beast. No doubt about it. Just the look of it gives you the feel of its power. I looked and played this guitar for a year at my local Guitarcenter before i had the guts to buy it. I love the look and feel but nothing made me more shocked than when i plugged this beast in. I had broken my gain pedal so i just ran my Guitar through the clean channel on my Marshall MG50FX.....it shook my house!!! Literally it shook my room. I couldnt believe it, so i went to my amp to see how loud i set it....the master was half way off, as the regular volume. This guitar has power. I cant wait to get my pedal so see, feel, and hear the true power of this amazing piece of art. All I can say is it is amazing and i recommend it to anyone, because it is versitale in many genres of music. I mostly play metal on it by I have to admit i played some little slow peaceful songs and stuff like that. This guitar has not let me down yet. This guitar deserves to be played so....GO BUY IT NOW!!! you wont regret it!
