Now with f-holes, this elegant model has an AAA figured laminated maple top with spruce top bracing and a mahogany body that's weight-relieved with a mahogany centerblock. It sports a modified 1959 profile, one-piece mahogany neck and MHS unpotted alnico humbuckers. Lightweight materials have been as much as possible to make this a guitar that you'll be able to play for hours. Includes case.

The solidbody Les Paul Standard and semi-acoustic ES-335 are two of the most influential electric guitars ever to hit their respective genres. Now Gibson brings them together in the ES-Les Paul, a stunning "meeting of minds" that blends the most important aspects of form and function from two immensely popular designs. Far more than merely a "chambered Les Paul" or an ES-335 "shaped like a single-cut", this entirely new guitar is the result of painstaking assessment of what makes each of these legendary models great, and a careful marriage of features by the skilled luthiers at Gibson Memphis.

With its laminated maple top, back and sides in the semi-acoustic construction of the ES-335, and a solid mahogany center block for enhanced sustain and feedback reduction, the ES-Les Paul elegantly marries the major characteristics of these two great Gibson guitars. Take away the telltale f-holes and the look is pure Les Paul, as is the glued-in mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and classic trapezoid inlays and LP-style headstock. Common to both-and carried through on the ES-Les Paul-are the traditional control section, toneful hardware, and dual humbucking pickups, a pair of MHS (Memphis Historic Spec) Humbuckers wound to accurately replicate the sonic glories of vintage PAFs.

The beauty is a beast

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

What a beautiful guitar. It plays and sounds as nice as it looks. I play jazz, blues and rock, and it easily goes from a crystal clear jazz sound to blues dirt to screaming distortion leads. This guitar does it all and well worth the money imho. If you're ever in Chicago go see my guy John, and he'll hook you up with a great deal like I got Two thumbs up and a big toe

Worth the money

By Brandon

from Syracuse, NY

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I have owned several Les Pauls and Paul Reed Smith guitars over the years, and have literally played every Les Paul model ever created. I just played the first model to arrive in the Syracuse store and this is the first Les Paul I have played in years that I felt was worth the price. The unpotted pickups sound open and detailed and take volume roll-offs very well. The light weight and woody sound from the hollow body is similar to the hollow PRS guitars but plays more comfortably. When I pick one up, the only change I plan on making is adding some push pull toggles for coil tapping and phase reverse, then this will literally be the perfect Les Paul. Props to Gibson for adding an actually premium guitar to their line for a premium price.

Google *Les Paul* and Listen to Him Play a Guitar

By Richard

from Mipples, Minnesota

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

There is nothing exactly like hearing a master speak through his, or her, instrument. Les Paul could have played guitar like Lester Young played Saxophone, or Franz Liszt played piano. The superlative comparisons are all there, waiting to be made --- he went to the *genius* level of music whenever he felt like going there, and even helped create a new instrument to move the process along, or suspend it in n-dimensional, frictionless space where the blue guitar sounds and reverberates forever, outside of time. GOOGLE the usual suspects and listen to him --- don't think, listen! The high price on these instruments is meant to represent the value of all the craftmanship and technology --- really the love and scintillating aesthetics in every form --- that goes in to them, correct? So the mild complaint in the first review is a fair statement. The first Gibson I played was an SG --- I only really wanted to make the "Gloria" riff sound as good as possible, and it worked. Then a few others (before I found the Fender Telecaster semi-hollowbody Thinline but it's all great music and tribalism is a bit absurd etc. --- "I know --- it's only Rock and Roll; but I LIKE it baby, yes I do"} and each one was clearly the result of real sound no pun intended craft. For three grand it should sound like three grand was put into it, less some overhead and inflation. Again, listen to the man himself. Never forget Blind Lemon Jefferson could gather amazed crowds with a string connected to a cigar box, singing the blues from the heart.
