Overview

Marry the Gibson Les Paul to the Gibson ES-335 and what do you get? A perfect blend of two of the most played and recorded electric guitars in history. Ultra-lightweight, killer in feel, with a big bottom that you know you love, the only question to be asked is, Gibson, what took you so long?

The Gibson ES Les Paul features classic Gibson ES construction including: maple/poplar/maple body supported with quartersawn Adirondack spruce bracing attached to the top with tone-enhancing, old-world hide glue, solid maple center block, hand-selected for weight and tone. genuine mahogany neck glued in via close tolerance mortise-and-tenon joinery.

The neck features a 1.7" bone nut for smooth and slick tuning, atop a 12" radius fingerboard sporting 22 Medium Jumbo frets firmly anchored into the speed-friendly rosewood fingerboard, perfectly spaced to .001 tolerances inside of a 24.75" easy chord scale length.

Originally touted by Gibson in 1961 as the world's fastest guitar neck the popular Gibson 1960s Slim Taper contour fast action neck fits like a glove and plays fast and clean for hours without fatigue thanks to the ergonomic shape developed over 120-plus years and the hand-rolled and hand-bound fingerboard edges. The precision PLEK system setup finishes one of the most accurate and playable guitar necks in Gibson history.

Two Memphis Historic Spec P-90 pickups are wired through perfectly matched potentiometers, unbalanced Orange Drop capacitors, featuring the Memphis Tone Circuit provide for clarity of tone seldom matched by ANY guitar. The bridge pickup is wound in Reverse Polarity so when used together, the large single-coil pickups work to cancel any hum. Along with a clean sound that would make a statue cry, the ES Les Paul P-90 can get down and dirty with the best of them. A Les Paul that can go from clean jazz, to bright country, to filthy rock-and-roll, will fill the holes in the most complete guitarist's arsenal.

This particular Gibson Memphis Limited run is offered for a short time in the rare Light Burst nitrocellulose lacquer finish featuring the additional Gibson Vintage Original Spec finish treatment. VOS finish applies to the hardware as well as the lacquer, and is designed to replicate an older but well-cared-for guitar. Although lacquer is time consuming to apply and requires refined expertise to do it right, all Gibson instruments continue to come with hand-applied lacquer finishes as the ultrathin lacquer coating is considered by many luthiers to be the best finish available for tone. That it is stunning to the eye doesn't hurt either.

Comes with a form-fit Gibson Hardshell Case and Gibson's dependable Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Limited Edition VOS Electric Guitar with P-90s:

Me- 35+ yr player/collector. Own many LPs from vintage to 2016s. Wanted ZZtopish/Aerosmith tones and light, blues noodler.Great clean or od or simply get away from the back breakers.
Be aware Gibson and most local dealers have horrible knowledge of their product lines. Took me a year and 1/2 to figure out the various options and get the gold/P90/vos which btw you have 3 neck options. I went with slim taper. 2015-16 changes. Beats me. Depends on who you ask.PLAY- Compared to other LP feels like the wood has helium in it. Open, airly very woody textured tone. Went with p90s to add definition and spark. Clean tubed amps, mild gain sounds great. The magic is with a mild od. Heavy od,gain is different, fun to tinker but not where it shines.

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Limited Edition VOS Electric Guitar with P-90s:

This 2016 Les Paul ES Gold top guitar is top of the heap, as I own a '53 140 ES and a 125 ES ~ vintage P90's on those.

In comparison with the vintage P90 to the modern, you cannot go wrong. You have excellent control with feedback at high volume, I can testify ~ gladly!

I also own another Les Paul ES, a 2014, which I bought first. I loved the MHS PAF pickups so much in that, I just had to get the P90 Gold top model, which I do not regret.

I much prefer the look, feel and lightweight LP ES ~ get the gold, you cannot go wrong!
