First delivered in 1959, the iconic Gibson ES-355 has been a mainstay in the music of BB King, Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, and thousands of discriminating Blues, Rock, Jazz and Country guitarists for over 50 years. Who doesn't know the tones of BB Kings Lucille, which is essentially an ES-355 without f-holes?
This very special ES-355 is a Limited Run from Gibson Memphis, and will be available for a short time only. The tone starts with the traditional Maple/Poplar/Maple body with Adirondack bracing glued to the top with old world tone enhancing Hide Glue. A Genuine Mahogany neck attaches to the body using mortise and tenon, hand fit joinery. This high tolerance engineered joint helps to enhance resonance throughout the entire guitar, and absolutely adds sustain into next week.
The comfortable traditional C contour Mahogany neck features a 1.675" bone nut, 24.75" scale length, and a 12" radius Richlite fingerboard, which sports consistent density throughout and no dead spots between frets. Final setup is done using PLEK technology insuring fret accuracy to .001 for the best possible playing action and intonation.
Electronics are based around Gibson's 57 Classic Humbucker pickups, the pickup that builds true to the original blueprint specs of the famous original Gibson PAF Humbucker first invented by Gibson in 1957. Hand-matched volume and tone pots feature the Memphis Tone Circuit and unbalanced Orange Drop capacitors for a clarity of tone that would be accepted by the most discerning Tone Meister.
The classic Bigsby B-7 tailpiece adds flexibility and an extra cool look, not to be outdone by multi-ply, hand-applied binding on the body and peghead, real mother-of-pearl inlays, and a sweet Sixties Cherry Nitrocellulose Lacquer hand applied finish seldom found on any modern guitars due to the complexity and difficulties in apply real lacquer finishes.
