The Gibson Custom Shop figured-top ES-355 electric guitar has breathtaking good looks”a gorgeous arched figured-maple top with maple back and sides. The neck and headstock are made from a single piece of quartersawn mahogany. The ES-355 guitar's bound 22-fret ebony fingerboard is adorned with large-block mother-of-pearl inlays. The luxurious look is completed with gold hardware and multi-ply body binding.

Since its introduction in 1958 as the world's first semi-hollowbody electric guitar, the Gibson ES-355 has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody. This combination of features offers all the incredibly versatile sounds and smooth playability that make the semi-hollow electric guitar famous for its use in jazz, rock, blues, and country.

Gibson finished this take on the ES-355 with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and retains the classic ES semi-hollow body proportions: 16-1/2-inches wide, 20-inches long, and 1-3/4-inches deep. The scale length is 24-3/4 inches. The design incorporates Gibson's lauded 17-degree back-angled headstock, which contributes greatly to the guitar's resonance and sustain.

The Custom Shop loads this amazing guitar with a pair of Gibson '57 Classic pickups for an unparalleled blend of warmth, richness and clarity. Controls include 2 volumes, 2 tones, and a 3-way pickup selector switch. Reliable kidney-shaped Grover tuners, and a classic ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece give players tuning stability and contribute to the ES-355 guitar's tonality. Gibson includes a Custom Shop hardshell case and a certificate of authenticity with each ES-355 guitar.

Comments about Gibson ES-355 Figured Top Electric Guitar:

What a great guitar!!!! The necks is super fast, the sound of the guitar is what a Hollow-bodied guitar should sound like... great jazz tones, great rock tones... Love to play it unplugged. resonant as it can be... the wood figuring is amazing and the guitar finishes are AWESOME! Pair this guitar with a nice tube guitar and you will need NOTHING else!! There is no turning back after playing this guitar.

Amazing Simplicity & Genius!

Comments about Gibson ES-355 Figured Top Electric Guitar:

This axe and the Casino are hand-in-hand as far as I'm concerned. I owned one of these briefly before trading it back in the for the Black Beauty Studio Custom axe. It was a tough trade, because I used Super Slinkies on it, and I could "blow" (I mean literally blow air across the strings) on my light ".008" gauge set of strings and get the most amazingly vibrant tones with little effort. Achieving that elusive "Woman Tone" couldn't be easier! I've owned three since the 60s-and they configure really nicely with the Roland GK-3 G-20/Gr-33 guitar synths and pickups too! I think that Lee Ritenour would be jealous!

Comments about Gibson ES-355 Figured Top Electric Guitar:

This is it!!! The ES 335 has always been one of the most versatile instruments ever created. This guitar can do anything from high gain situations to warm and deep clean sounding tones with plenty of thickness and punch. Anytime i can't get the sound i want out of another instrument I turn to my ES 335. It is easily one of the premier instruments of our time and it stands out for a reason.....It can do anything!!! Just search for the sound you want and within minutes you will be able to produce that sound out of this guitar. I think it is different from les pauls or sgs for the reason that it not only has the gibson tone that is very full, but it also has a tremendous amount of depth that you will not find in any other guitar aside from this hollowbody. From the moment I played this guitar I understood and have sought it in the highest regards ever since. It is IT, and IT is exceptional!!
