The Bigsby-equippped Gibson Custom Shop ES-355 electric guitar combines breathtaking good looks and the added fun of a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. This figured-top gem of a guitar has a gorgeous figured arched maple top with maple back and sides. The neck and headstock are crafted from a single piece of quartersawn mahogany. A bound 22-fret ebony fingerboard is adorned with large block mother-of-pearl inlays. Gold hardware and multi-ply body binding complete the look.
Since its introduction in 1958 as the world's first semi-hollowbody electric guitar, the Gibson ES-355 has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solid body. This combination of features offers all the incredibly versatile sounds and smooth playability that make the semi-hollow electric guitar famous for its use in jazz, rock, blues, and country.
Gibson finishes the ES-355 with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and retains the classic ES semi-hollow body proportions: 16-1/2-inches wide, 20-inches long, and 1-3/4-inches deep. The scale length is 24-3/4 inches. The design incorporates Gibson's lauded 17-degree back-angled headstock, which contributes greatly to the guitar's resonance and sustain.
The Custom Shop loads this amazing guitar with a pair of Gibson '57 Classic pickups for an unparalleled blend of warmth, richness and clarity. Controls include 2 volumes, 2 tones, and a 3-way pickup selector switch. Reliable kidney-shaped Grover tuners and an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge give players tuning stability and contribute to the tonality of this very special guitar. Gibson includes a Custom Shop hardshell case and a certificate of authenticity with every ES-355.
