Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

When I started playing guitar 25 years ago... I wanted to get a 335. It was worth the wait. For the music that I do (rock rhythm playing)... it's perfect for me. I love the satin finish too. The 57 classic pickups are buttery smooth sounding. Great warmth and sustain through the body. Love it, love it love it!

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

Have always wanted a real deal U.S.A. made Gibson ES-335. Went into local Guitar Center recently and the stars aligned! The price was the best that I had ever seen on a real deal 335! I liked the price and the guitar was absolutely fabulous. If I were a professional (or even semi-professional (or even half way decent)I would have already purchased a ES-335. In the right hands I know that this guitar can make magic. I love everything about this guitar and it actually makes me one to play more! I intend to have this guitar for a long time and hopefully one day pass it on to another generation.

It's an ES335, why wouldn't it be awesome! Buy it!

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar last week (Feb 2011). Love it. The satin finish gives the guitar a cool look (black is better than red IMO) and the neck plays super smooth because of the finish. I played the red one in the store before I bought the black one. Couldn't be happier. I own a 2005 Gretsch Duo Jet with Dynasonics and a 1962 National Val-Pro 88. This Gibson kicks both of their butts! All three are awesome in their own unique ways, but the Gibson has that hollow-body growl and singing sustain. Play rock, play jazz, play country, play blues, this guitar will do it. Like the title says, it is an ES335 and everything you'd expect from one with these specs, which are the same as ALL other dot ES 335s other than the tuning pegs (satin finish has vintage tulip tuners where the other dot models have chrome or nickle).

Gibson ES-335... Expensive - Yes, Worth it - Absolutely!

      By

      from Waldorf, MD

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

For about a year and half I have been testing semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars to find something that could produce "that" tone - you know, the tone that you hear somewhere deep in the recesses of your aural brain, that, when heard, sends a rush of endorphins throughout your body. Well maybe not everyone thinks of tone in this way - but I do. I'm a tone junkie; and my search for the perfect tone has finally ended. In my research for a great blues/jazz/rock guitar - which covered many instruments over a number of quality guitar makers - I finally settled on a 335 style model. Then, I did the comparisons between Ibanez AS103, Epi Dot and the Gibson ES-335. Considering the price difference between them is quite substantial, there would have to be a very, very compelling reason to buy the Gibson over the Epi or the AS. Taking nothing from the Epi Dot or AS103 - because the both models I played sounded very good and are well constructed - and the AS103 is certainly a well-done instrument. But, when I played the Gibson 335, with a satin cherry finish and '57 humbuckers, not only could I feel the difference in quality but I heard it - that tone, the one I had been searching for - it rang in my bones. It was an awesome experience. By the way, I was test-driving through a Fender Vibro Champ - a good tube-driven practice amp. Admittedly, the ES-335 is an expensive guitar - and that is likely its only con. On the flipside, it is very well crafted (made in Nashville, TN); the components ('57 HBs, 500k potentiometers, tune-o-matic Nashville bridge, Gibson Deluxe tuners, etc.) are all top of the line; and the feel and sound of the instrument are sublime. Like so many other reviews that end with "buy this guitar" - I'm not urging this sentiment outright. Buying an ES-335, for most people, is an event that is culmination of lots of research, lots of saving money, lots of justification, lots of... and lots of... (you fill in the blanks). In the end, however, if unmatched tone and superb craftsmanship are the goal, then you should seriously consider buying this guitar.

      I miss this guitar

      By

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar in late 2008. The sound is simply amazing. I spent months agonizing over which guitar to I wanted to purchase and I tested just about every model of the 335 available. This one is the best. I don't know exactly why but I found that this model had a better, warmer, sound than most of the other 335s. The resonance was also better. My suspicion is that the lack of a heavy paint job is responsible for the better tonality but I could be wrong. Whatever the reason, this guitar sounds incredible. As for playability, as far as I'm concerned it's second to none. Everyone is going to have their own preferences when it comes to neck, bridge, and strut designs and for me the 335 is perfect. Simply put, this was the best buy I've ever made. Unfortunately, about 6 months ago it was stolen. I feel like I've lost a friend (I know that sounds cliche but it's actually true!) I'll be buying another one as soon as I can save the money for it... yes, that's right: I love this guitar so much I'm willing to pay for it twice!

      Great sound, great neck...

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

This IS one off the most fine guitars ever made...the neck is incredible, pickups amazing, sound unbelievable...buuut, the nut is totally ridiculous (plastic), it should be made of bone...and the tuners...for sure is the worse item of this guitar...i play almost strictly jazz, so, i use 0.12 strings (sometimes even 0.13) and the guitar doesnt stay on tune for a long time even with a so heavy gauge...but, its deserve 5 stras!

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

This is the second 335 I've owned over the years. I've owned all sorts of guitars over the years but it's nice to finally come home to the guitar that is ideal for me. Because I play a lot of different styles of music there is simply no other guitar I've come across with the flexibility of this beast. If you're a solid body player it will likely take some adjustment on your part, but I guarantee it will be well worth it for the flexibility you'll get. Some people like to swap around guitars when they gig. For me, I'd rather have one that does it all.

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great! I played it at Guitarcenter and I loved it. It has an amazing clean tone and a pretty good tone for rock. Its not gonna sound great for metal but hey what metal guitarist plays a hollowbody. I am saving up my money to get this guitar! Plus... Tomas Kalnoky from Streetlight plays this guitar :]

      Great guitar

      By

      from NC

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the best guitars I have ever played. I have had no problems with the hardware, aside from minor tuning issues. (My other guitar has grovers, which spoiled me a bit). The '57 humbuckers get a great tone for really any kind of music you want to play, especially blues or jazz. Both pickups are surprisingly bright, and have a lot of output, with a nice meaty tone. The neck felt very thick to me at first, even though it's apparently a 60's neck, which are supposed to be thinner. Once I adjusted to the neck, though, it was an absolute joy to play, and is very difficult to set down. Visually and sonically , it is an absolutely beautiful guitar, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
