New ES-335 is a keeper

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured-Top Electric Guitar with Gloss Finish:

Over the last 15 years I've purchased and then sold 3 different ES-335's. None of them would stay in tune and they were essentially unusable for gigging. I finally got the bug again, went to GC and purchased a brand new ES-335 in Vintage Sunburst. Unlike the traditional "dot" fret markers, this one has the rectangular inlays like those on Les Pauls. The neck on this model has a nice rounded C shape but is very slender. The prior ES's I owned had much more substantial necks (like an SG) and I found them difficult to play. Gibson has really done this neck correctly. Fit and finish on the guitar are perfect and it sounds wonderful both clean or with overdrive on all my amps. I already own several Les Pauls and Strats and this ES will be a nice addition to my collection. Intonates well and stays in tune perfectly even if I play hard. I can't wait to gig with this guitar and am 100% satisfied. I highly recommend this guitar if you want a semi-hollow style guitar. I also have the Epi ES-335 Limited Edition Dot, which is also very nice, but for 10 times the price, I can tell the difference with the Gibson. Go get one, you know you need it!!!!

Gibson Figured Top ES-335

By BOB GIESICK

from CA

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured-Top Electric Guitar with Gloss Finish:

This is a beautiful guitar, and the setup from the factory needed no adjustment at all. The intonation across the neck is spot on, and the action is comfortable. The tone is warm and full, approaching an archtop for jazz, while still having those wonderful tones with the bridge pickup or both pickups. The humbucker pickups are not affected by line noise, so I do not need to worry about tone settings to cancel out the 60-cycle hum. There is none. The pickups have a lot of gain, and I have found my amp volume is quite a bit lower than when I use a Telecaster to blend in with other musicians. I have gotten away from using pedals and just enjoy the tone from the guitar and amp combination. I also want to lug around as little as possible. I ordered the classic sunburst finish and noticed the binding is almond in color, giving it a nice, aged look. The fit and finish is superb. The case is well made and has the vintage brown covering with pink lining like the Gibson cases from the late 1950's. Nice touch. I think these sound best through a Twin Reverb or comparable amp. The guitar has such amazing tone, it does not need much in the way of effects for me. The guitar is heavier than the Telecaster, but I do not mind the weight. Would I recommend this guitar? Absolutely!

The Tone Makes it Worth the Price

By david richardson

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured-Top Electric Guitar with Gloss Finish:

As a player for over 40 years, I decided to get a really high quality guitar. Used to be professional, now play mostly at church. I love the sounds the humbuckers produce, especially like using the neck pickup alone. After reordering the first one( the top was pretty plain --and it was supposed to be the figured top) the second one is gorgeous, in Cherry Red. Thanks to Morgan for helping me get this. I didn't know you could pick out your guitar on high end stuff on the platinum system at Guitar Center. I wanted the Grover tuners and it stays in tune great. I don't really like the tulip tuners that comes on some models. Have them on my Les Paul special and its always out of tune. The finish is really beautiful and I have found no flaws anywhere on the guitar. The custom case is nice, but its an awfully snug fit to get it in. Don't care for the shroud in the case that lays on the guitar. It's kind of a hassle., but that's not a big deal.I play Chet Atkins style and I wanted a semi-hollow but not a great big Gretcsh, this 335 fits the bill perfectly. Not to heavy and not too big, it's very comfortable. If you are able to afford one at all, even if you have to stretch a bit, it will be worth it, and it will still retain it's value after several years. GO AHEAD AND TAKE THE PLUNGE! My only regret was waiting so long.Really! Thanks Wife!

I Love My 335

By Don Crisafulli

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured-Top Electric Guitar with Gloss Finish:

A few decades or so ago, I saw Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour within about a month of one another. At that point, I thought, "It won't be today, tomorrow, or next week, but one of these days, I WILL own a 335." Well, that came to pass in the late spring of 1988 after I received a beaucoup tax refund while coming to and mourning the realization that my damaged/jerry-rigged SG Custom had reached the end of the line. That was and remains the best instrument-purchase decision that I've ever made. My (natural/"blonde") 335 does it all: blues, R&B and soul, rock, "elevator" music, whatever; all that and with the finish mellowing and the wood grains becoming more pronounced after 20+ years, it's pretty, too. If someone was to ask me what instrument to acquire if he or she could have just one electric guitar with cost being little or no object, I'd reply, "A Gibson ES-335," before he or she was able to finish asking the question.

Gibson ES335

By Tim Rose

from Westminster,Md

Comments about Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured-Top Electric Guitar with Gloss Finish:

I have dreamed of owning a Gibson guitar since 1964.I was finally able to afford one that I wanted. The 335 figured top is not only stunningly beautiful but is a dream to play. The separation of tone between the pickups gives an infinite variety of tones. I have just started to study Jazz and the bass of this guitar sings almost as smoothly as the treble. I love the neck profile which enhances playability like no other guitar that I have owned. Regardless of the style from smooth Jazz to rocking surf, this guitar meets the challange
