I have owned this for over six months now. I have been playing guitar for nearly 40 years now and have wanted this guitar since I first saw it in the 1966 Gibson catalog. I was well worth the wait! This guitar has the finest playing and sounding 12 string neck I have ever experienced (and I have owned or played them all - including a 1966 Firebird XII). Everyone who sees this literally draws a breath and goes WOW! The only issues with mine are perhaps picky: The red polish compound from the factory was not completely cleaned in several areas (common Gibson: you can do better). The six string is also great! The overtones you can get by playing on a different neck while having the opposite switched on is something to be explored and used...really urethral sounding. This guitar played through a Marshal stack is just what you'd imagine: HUGE! It also resonds well through a small combo like a Fender Deluxe and even a POD. If you are wanting to take your playing and preformance to a different lever, then buy this now while they are still somewhat affordable. I am amazed that these are not over 5 grand yet. They are worth every penny!

not the best for its price

By noah

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

the guitar is amazing. ive played it a few times myself, and there aren't any problems with the pickups or the neck, but the epiphone version of the guitar is basically exactly the same, sounds just as good, and it'll save you 2 grand, so i would recommend the epiphone but this is still a good guitar.

Awesome Guitar Great sound. well worth the $$$$

By Dylan Johnson

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

After first catching eye with this guitar, i knew she was the one. This guitar is simply amazing, maybe a little pricy, but really... they are very rare to even play one, and they sound so great, so i think it is well worth the money. Also, for those of you who complain about the weight, have you actually played one before??? They are not heavy at all- its just as heave as a standard fender telecaster. The eds is not light, but not very heavy. If i had to, i would not have any problems using this guitar through a whole gig. Soundwise... it has more of a blues sound than anything else. It may sound different to your amp but through my dual recto, its not very aggressive, which is okay. If I were into metal, like Coheed and Cambria's welcome home (He uses the eds in the music video), i would swap the pickups for some burstbuckers. Overall, this guitar is a keeper, and she will not let anyone down

Comparison between the Epi version

By The Shatz

from Leawood, KS

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

I wanted to write this review to compare the Gibson EDS 1275 versus the Epiphone guitar. I have played both briefly at a guitar shop, and would probably lean toward the Epi. This guitar has a slightly better sound, and can be gotten in Alpine White (If you're concerned about that). It's much more expensive than the Epiphone edition, that sacrifices some sound quality for a fabulous price that only Epiphone gives. If you're a laid-back player, choose Epiphone. If you're a serious musician with the budget to match, go for the Gibson.

BEST GUITAR PERIOD

By Lespaul16

from New Milford NJ

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

First thigs first, the guitar is heavy. everyone knows that and anyone who buys it knows that and doesnt care. like me. i want this guitar even if it sounded terrible and weighed more than i do. seeing this guitar on the led zepplein DVD is what made me want to pick up playing guitar. this guitar may be a little expensive, but its way better then the epiphone version. the sound is great and the wieght is bearable. not to mention this guitar is beautiful. its futuristic and classic at the same time. its inspirational. rock and roll is about being different and this guitar is just that. and its like 2 guiatrs in one...you cnat buy ANY two gibson custom shop guitars for $3000 , i mean, most of the single neck ones are over 4 grand on their own. this guitar is a steal compared to other high end gibsons and gibson cutomshops. i am currently saving up to buy this. its the best!

better grab one soon

By 3 Lions

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

I have a 94 model that sounds EXACTLY like Page's. I have played newer CS models too. Somthing missig in the newer ones tonewise. All Gibsons best luthiers left 'en mass' in the late 90's. To find an early 90's one is best. Since it is no longer a production model, and Gibson seems to be 'getting cheap' again, I don't see getting a great one in the future. They almost went out of buisness in the 80's for bad quality.

Great, if your back can handle it

By webmasta.b

from Davis, CA

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

As any other zeppelin fan, i love this guitar because of stairway to heaven. watching the zeppelin dvd over and over only made me want this guitar even more. once i got this sucker around my neck however, i felt what it was really like to be jimmy page. and it hurt. the weight was almost repulsive. I have a full arsenal of lps and i can play those, almost with ease. This however, i could not handle playing for long periods of time. i would say the price of the guitar is reasonable.you're pretty much paying for two guitars melded into one. and also it's a part of rock and roll history! overall, this guitar plays like a dream, the only issue i had with it was the weight. great guitar to sit down and play, and that's just what i do.

Incredible Guitar

By Boberto

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Gibson EDS-1275 Double-Neck Electric Guitar:

This guitar rocks. That's all that can be said. I picked up this guitar because it looked cool. I was very suprised when I found out just how good it sounded. The Twelve string neck is perfect for strumming chords, while the six string neck is an incredible lead machine. Buy this guitar!!!
