Overview

The Les Paul Studio has always been a truly versatile guitar to take anywhere else you need top performance in a Gibson. This year's Les Paul Studio 2017 HP takes the concept to a whole new level, both in looks and performance. Sonic versatility is comprehensive, yet intuitive to handle: its 2 volume and 2 two tone controls all have push-pull functions (for individual tap/split, phase, and coil selection), while 5-positions DIP switch add Neck and Bridge Pickup Tap or Split, Neck and Bridge Vol Treble Bleed control, and Transient Suppression.

High-performance playing features make it a superbly comfortable guitar, too, while a high gloss nitro finish coaxes luscious looks from a Grade-A flamed maple top complemented by pearl trapezoid inlays and chrome-plated hardware. Delivered in a Gibson High Performance super premium stamped aluminum case, along with a Gibson premium leather strap, a Gibson multi-tool and a polishing cloth.

Gibson Quest Prize

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Electric Guitar:

Beautiful looking and sounding guitar with great play ability. In comparison to my 2015 LPM I find the pinging sound from the nut when bending is totally gone which is great! The fast access heel is a nice touch as well, it's very comfortable when playing higher notes. The G-Force really isn't anything to complain about...I love it. The improved control switch really is silent when switching and the volumes knobs even though look like plastic in the photos are actually metal. I am still getting use to the dip switches and all the sound options but so far I really love just the standard les paul sound it has.

Only negatives are that the neck volume knob is a little wobbly, not the post it sits on but the actual knob itself has some wiggle room. There is also a slight finish flaw on the edge of the maple top. Maybe it was a knot in the wood that didn't take the stain very well? Never the less, it is barely noticeable and surely nothing to really complain about when you get this awesome guitar for free!

2017 Les Paul Studio HP

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Electric Guitar:

I returned this guitar. One of the chrome knobs had an obvious defect in the chrome. Also, the chrome on the back of the auto tuners had imperfections in the chrome. How did this pass Gigson QC? How did the parts pass QC to make it to assembly????? I was very dissapointed in the quality of this Gibson. I expected much better.

2017 Les Paul Studio HP Black Cherry Burst

By MustangJoe

from Fariview Heights, IL

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Electric Guitar:

Wow. Very nice Guitar. You would expect that from a Gibson Les Paul, but this Guitar has exceeded expectations. No Flaws on mine that I have found. I have had it for about a month now. The action was just about as perfect as you could get it set up right from the factory. Pulled it out the box and tested the GForce Tuners. It was already in tune. It does get a more accurate tuning if you do it one string at a time as opposed to all in one shot. Open Case, Plug into Amp, Enjoy! The feel of the neck is what you would expect from a Gibson. If you've never owned one you wont be disappointed. The pick ups on this HP sound awesome and there are so many tones you can get out this just by itself. Very satisfied. About the only downside I can find is not really a down side once you get used to it and is actually great now. It's the weight. My back thanks you Gibson for the weight relief on this guitar. However you will find a you might need a bit to adjust to it. With weight relief and the Tronic Tuners on the Headstock the guitar is top heavy. I noticed if you lean too far to the left while standing and playing it does feel like it wants to dip on you and you may find yourself feeling like you have to lift it. That was with the stock Gibson leather strap that came with it. Nice strap to be sure, but the style of that strap was never a favorited of mine and I put a nice locking strap on and actually don't notice the problem anymore. Maybe I'm just used to it now but I don't notice the feeling like I am needing to lift the neck up at all now. The Black Cherry Burst is a beautiful guitar and I have had nothing but compliments on the look of it. Add the great sound it has and this guitar is a keeper that will be sought after for years to come. This Guitar looks better and sounds better than my buddies Custom Les Paul that cost over twice as much. He's not happy but still loves his Gibson. It is truly a great guitar for the price, if you are into this price range then get it !!!

Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Black Cherry Burst

By MustangJoe

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Electric Guitar:

I had to come back and right a review on this Guitar. Not the first Les Paul I have played by far but it is the first one I have purchased. Obviously this is not a cheap guitar but it was worth every penny. The Black Cherry Burst is absolutely beautiful. I read the other reviews here before I purchased mine and I had a few reservations but most of the reviews were really good. I couldn't be happier with this guitar. Everybody compliments on how great the guitar looks. Looks don't mean anything if it doesn't sound good and 490r and the 498t pick ups it has will blow you away. The sound is just outright awesome. The action on mine was just about as perfect as you can get. I haven't had to make one adjustment. Came ready to go. I want to address a few things I saw in some other reviews. It is a tad heavy on the neck due to weight relief on the Guitar (OMG My back thanks you Gibson) and having the GFroce Elec Tuners added some more. Has not been a problem for me at all playing standing up. I don't feel like I have to hold the neck up at all. I did use a different strap than the leather one that came with it. I have a nice locking strap that I use and I don't have any problems. The case is heavy because it is so solid, but you can rest assured your Gibson will be safe inside this beast. It doesn't lock and that would be a nice feature but still it is a very nice case. I'm just blown away. I had no flaws in the guitar. The GForce tuners work great. If you take a second longer and tune them one string at a time the tuning is pretty much spot on. Takes only seconds to switch to another tuning. Bottom line !!!!!Get one!!!!!. You will not be disappointed. This one is a keeper.

Simply stunning

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Studio HP Electric Guitar:

Have you ever purchased a guitar that you just cannot stop playing? I purchased a "used" 2017 Gibson Les Paul Studio HP in Black Cherry Burst from GC and the guitar is out of this world. It is extremely comfortable to play. The neck is flatter than 2016's. The fretboard is soft and east to fret notes or chords. The pups sound great with that classic Les Paul growl under gain or crisp when clean. The push/pull pots give me a wide variety of tones with ease. The G-Force tuning system was very easy for me to adjust to. It's very quiet and intuitive. I play in E standard, Eb standard, and D standard switching with ease. The set up is perfect and the finish is absolutely flawless and stunning. There is nothing to dislike about this guitar. I play it more than my 2016 Les Paul Custom Classic Lite. The case one the other hand is extremely heavy, unwieldy and impractical for gigging purposes: with the guitar in it it weighs a ton and cannot lock.
