You can never have too much of a good thing and the 2017 J-45 Slope Shoulder is just that. When you play this J-45, you’ll notice that it responds exactly to the player’s style and technique – powerful one moment, and soft and mellow the next. This characteristic of round shoulder guitars is certainly one of the main attractions that players have to Gibson's famous J-45 model, affectionately called “The Workhorse”.

For the first time ever, Gibson offers the iconic J-45 in a modern cutaway model. The Gibson Slope Shoulder acoustic body design is an original Gibson innovation, which first appeared in Gibson’s 1934 catalog, and was promoted for its incredible sound and the 2017 J-45 Cutaway is no different. Gibson's master craftsmen kept it as close to the J-45 Standard as possible, building each instrument using the same time-tested build techniques as all Gibson acoustics. Its cutaway body design offers full access to the rosewood fingerboard for increased playing surface. The J-45 has continually lured artists and professionals with its superior playing comfort, punchy bass and warm, rich tonality and this cutaway version is even more versatile. The 2017 J-45 Cutaway offers a slim taper mahogany neck joined with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint to the mahogany back and sides for a cohesive bond between these two vibrating elements. A beautiful Sitka spruce top pumps out all the classic Gibson sound. It's finished with classic Gibson appointments, including a mother-of-pearl Gibson inlay on the headstock, superior nickel Grover tuners, superior black nut and Tusq saddle, rosewood bridge and fingerboard, mother-of-pearl position markers and an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system, delivering the true tonal character of your Gibson Acoustic.

Designed and handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, the 2017 J-45 Slope Shoudler Dreadnought includes a hardshell case and Gibson’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Comments about Gibson 2017 J-45 Slope Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Had not owned a Gibson for many years. Thought the J-45 with a cutaway was a great idea, so I picked one off the GC wall. Wasn't looking to buy, but that belly rumbling tone - you know the rest... Next thing I know, that one followed me home. I had the action lowered a tad and dropped elixir nanoweb lights for a true ringer. The fit and finish was flawless. The slim neck combined with the 1.725 nut width equals less hand fatigue for me. At 52, I had forgotten how comfortable the shorter scale length was for the intricate stuff. Not louder than the 25.4 scale, just easier to transition and bend. A go-to guitar that excels at many styles with upper register access. The complexity of overtones and sustain this thing delivers is remarkable right out of the box. It can be both sweet and mean whatever your mood. Not sure of Gibson's consistency, but have heard they are producing killers lately in Montana. This workhorse is a definite keeper. Thank you Mr. Gibson.
