Overview

Since 1963 the Firebird has drawn the admiration of a who's-who list of great guitarists. The 2016 Firebird T brings together everything that has made the Firebird such a desirable guitar. The stylized body features neck-through construction with a nine-ply mahogany neck, producing the familiar playing experience of vintage Firebirds with unbelievable sustain, all with a hand-sprayed nitrocellulose finish that lets every bit of tone ooze through.

The neck respects Gibson's traditional width and includes a self-lubricating Graph Tech nut that improves sustain and intonation whether you'e bending strings or not. The fretboard inlays faithfully reproduce the original design the 1963 Firebird V. A pair of traditional Firebird mini-humbuckers dish up the rich and biting tone of yesterday and today, along with great looks to match.

Hardware includes a tune-o-matic bridge and Steinberger gearless tuning keys. The 2016 Firebird T comes complete with a gig bag. Pick one up and see how far this bird can fly.

I love my new Gibson Firebird. The finish is excellent and the tone is unbelievable. I love the sustain. Gibson's PLEK setup was far from good, so I had the tech at my Guitar Center go over it. He adjusted the action, balanced the pickups and got it dialed in just how I like it. The tuners are awesome and really easy to get to exact pitch.

I'm an intermediate skilled player and this is my first Gibson. I have a great collection of nice guitars (6), but just had not found a Gibson I was in love with, until now. I can't put it down. It comes with a gig bag that is nice quality, but I immediately ordered a SKB hard case. I play all my guitars often, but I like to take care of my stuff and keep it all looking like new.

I own a few Gibsons and have always been impressed with Gibson quality until now. I realize that with the lower price for this guitar, something must have been sacrificed. The sound is great, the fit and finish are great. But the set up leaves much to be desired. The amount of fret buzz to me is unacceptable. The cause, I found, is several high frets. I was able to fix the issue and make the guitar playable, but still... When I think of a Gibson, I think of low action without buzz. But not anymore. I recently purchased 2 Epiphones for less than half the price of this Firebird and they both played better out of the box. But since I put the effort into set up and frets, I'm happy with the guitar. It does sound great.

This guitar is amazing. I have strats, teles, les pauls, sgs, and this one just stands out. Everyone who picks it up looks awesome and falls in love. Wish it came with a case but this price was too good to pass. I totally recommend!!

Comments about Gibson 2016 Firebird T Electric Guitar:

I was worried after reading the negative reviews. But this is a great price for a firebird. Next year's models cost a lot more. So I took a chance. And everything turned out well. Great guitar!!! Well set up. No defects. Plays beautifully right out of the box.

By no means am I picky or a professional, but it was easy to notice the substantial fret buzzing. Substantial tress rod adjustment needed.

This guitar has a great feel and plays awesome! I was about to give up on Gibson altogether but I realized I'm just not a les paul guy. I've read a few negative reviews about the pickups. That's all nonsense, IMO. They are a little hot, but they sound juicy!

I was initially skeptical that the new 2016 Gibson T series would be a "lesser" guitar than the previous years series, but I was wrong! This is a great guitar at a fantastic value.

Had a lot of fret buzz. May have bin from shipping in the cold weather. Tweaked the truss rod and put on 10s. Intonated and it sounds great, A lot of American made guitar for the money. I would have payed more for a hard case. My Orange Rockerverb loves it.
