The Explorer 2016 HP is the much-anticipated, modern incarnation of the original Explorer. It boasts a remarkable set of premium, high performance features, overlaid on a solid mahogany body for a fat, punchy, well-defined sound.

A new and exclusive fast-access heel, developed specifically for the Gibson USA High Performance lineup, allows unprecedented access to the high notes – which, combined with the new soloist neck width, provides the fastest-playing Explorer you’ve ever experienced.

Titanium metal for the saddles and the adjustable zero-fret nut delivers a bright, crisp tone, while being virtually indestructible and ensuring total, personalized control over the action. A 496R Hot Ceramic pickup in the neck position and 500T Super Ceramic in the bridge sizzle and snarl with aggressive authority, while genuine mother of pearl inlays add to the guitar’s premium styling. Mother of inlays add to the Explorer’s premium status.

Comments about Gibson 2016 Explorer HP Electric Guitar:

Simply the best sounding guitar that I have ever owned. Whether it is the clean channel or with high gain, this guitar sounds amazing. I spent the extra money for the HP model for the slightly wider neck and the included hard case but all the additional features are worth it.
The G-Force tuners are a new thing for me. I was sceptical at first, but after playing this guitar and being able to change tunings on the fly it was almost awkward playing a guitar without them!
The only reason it didn't give five stars was mainly Gibson quality control. The fret board needed conditioning and the guitar needed a slight setup/ adjustment upon receiving it. At first I thought it was the tuners but rather the intonation was a little off.
