Comments about Gibson 2016 ES-339 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Out of the box I was a little disappointed. I replaced the factory stings with Ernie Ball slinky 10's. Which made a world of difference. Now it stays in tune and has a great tone. The tone is very versatile, each note can be heard clearly, not muddy, unless you want it that way.
The reason I brought a Gibson: I played a 1959 Byrdland, which played and felt like a new guitar. Hope to leave this to my grand-daughter.

Comments about Gibson 2016 ES-339 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I'm a semi-pro, gig fairly regularly, and I've been playing for a LONG time. I have two other Gibsons, as well as a couple of Fenders. The 339 kind of happened to me on the way to a 335, which I had planned to buy. The 339, has more of that Les Paul "growl" to its tone, than the 335 does, and I love that. If you are playing straight jazz, that tone might not be for you. The ax is lightweight, fairly compact, which gives me some of that that "Les Paul" sound without the weight. The tone is balanced, and clean. I prefer a clean tone, but this baby will growl if you want it to! The neck is very playable, and feels similar to my SG. This guitar is definitely worth checking out!
