Comments about Gibson 2016 ES-335 Satin Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I had a 335 studio prior to this one. The difference in sound between this and the studio is beyond comprehension. Spend extra, and get the real one! Guitar is fantastic. My only gripe is the satin cherry finish did not look all that great in person. Great guitar for all types of music!

Comments about Gibson 2016 ES-335 Satin Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I started playing guitar in 1979, on an old no-name acoustic. From there I went electric with an Epiphone w/dual humbuckers. In '83 I purchased my first "pro" quality electric a used 1982 Gibson Explorer E2. It was gorgeous antique cherry flame with cream binding, ebony fret board, bone nut, and AWESOME sounding "velvbet brick" pups, and TPS micro-tuning end piece.
I went to my current Fender Strat in 1991 and LOVE that guitar to this very day.
I've always missed that awesome Gibson HB tone, so a few years back I shopped and bought a beautiful Gibson Les Paul Standard. It was gorgeous and had a ripping great tone. But, I didn't like how it played. The neck felt odd, too stiff and congested. I'm just not an LP player, my hands and fingers don't get along with LP necks, and I tried nearly all variations of them.
I then sought out an ES335. Tried a LOT of them in various configurations and finishes.
The satin cherry was my favorite. Even though the gloss finishes look richer and shiny, I kept coming back to that more open, airy, and articulate tone that a satin, non gloss, finish allows. The wood is "freer" to resonate and breathe imo, and I think that is why I kept coming back to the satin finish.

The 2015 ES335 I finally purchased to be mine has excellent construction and quality. The tones from the Gibson HB pups is fantastic, varied, detailed, and it can rip when called upon. It makes an EXCELLENT heavy metal tone that is distinct and unique compared to the more common tone of more solid and semi-solid electric guitars used in that genre.

I set up the neck, string height, and intonation and it adjusted and tuned perfectly. Even the old fashioned Kluson tuners work much better than I expected, as they hold tune pretty well. Even so, the Kluson tuners are the only weak part of this fantastic instrument. Yes, they hold tune well, however, I prefer a taller gearing for more and easier accuracy when tuning. I prefer "locking" tuners.
