I love this Les Paul! I was in the market for a new Gibson in 2015, but didn't like some of the changes. The biggest things I didn't like was the wider neck and the robo-tuners. When Guitar Center announced the Sprint Run for 2015, I had to check them out.

So I rolled up on the closest GC and had a play. I picked up a Wine Red Studio. Immediately it felt great in the hands, acoustically it was very articulate, and when I plugged it in, it had that Gibson power and roar. Needless to say, I went home with it right then and there.

I highly recommend checking out a Sprint Run Gibson Les Paul. If you didn't like the initial 2015 models, do yourself a favor and check these out.

This is a decent guitar. Nice neck, no buzzing frets, good string height. good ( not great ) craftsmanship. Finish is OK, Headstock logo looks cheesy. Tan pickup and tone selector surrounds on a wine red guitar is ugly. Will switch out for black surrounds. Mediocre electronics as mine had a broken/bad tone selector switch which I do not see how it could have gotten past quality control. Intonation was almost perfect out of the box, but needed a little tweaking. Thankfully I didnt pay a lot for wine wine red one. I will be selling it as I am not impressed with this guitar. I've been playing for over 40 years and owned dozens of guitars. This isnt a keeper. Gibson has a lot of balls charging so much for a mediocre instrument.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

The Sprint Run Les Pauls were marketed as having no weight relief and the weight of this guitar doesn't dissuade me from believing this to be true. This and the classic 57 and classic 57 plus pick ups made the guitar a must buy . My guitar has a few quality control issues but I was prepared to overlook them because the pattern on the top is really quite nice and getting an unopened box was proving difficult by the time I decided to get one . Like others here I didn't want the wide neck or auto tuners of the regular models. To buy a LP guitar with no weight relief and pick ups as good as these you would normally be looking at a guitar twice the price of the studio SR. The only concern I have is about the durability of the
brass zero fret nut , but I'm hoping Gibson will do the right thing if this becomes an issue for LP Studio
2015 owners .

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

Apparently, One of the new benefits of this guitar was suppose to be the addition of the Gforce electronic tuner that I was expecting upon delivery and only found out it was removed at the factory due to technical issues with it and I wasn't made aware until taking delivery. Was intrigued and looking forward to this new addition but understood the reasoning behind its removal. Was disappointed but now I'm over it... Love my guitar!!!

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I almost didn't try this guitar but on a whim I picked it up and played it several hours over a week and knew I had to have it. I love the zero fret nut, it allows me to play open chords more in tune in the first 3-4 frets and helps with low action. I think it makes the tone a little brighter but i need that to cut through in our worship band. The neck is very nice to me, I can play more fluidly on this neck than other LPs I've owned, though I realize this is subjective.
The pickups seem more clearly defined than other 57 classics than I have played, especially in the neck. I don't use the coil split much.
The guitar is lighter which makes long sessions much more comfortable.
I don't mind the lack of frills as compared to LP Standard, I care more about the tone and playability. Has a nice case, gold colored.
One more thing to add, this guitar was retrofitted with Kluson tuners so I can't talk about rob tuners.
Great guitar, great price, just what I need.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

So I decided at 42 years old I was going to learn how to play guitar. I had a spending limit of $1000. and knew the brand name Gibson so I had my mind made up I was going to get one. This is the guitar I picked out. I can't give a rave review of how it plays or anything like that, because to be honest I can't play it yet. The main reason I wrote this review was to let the big wigs at G.C. know how happy I was with the service I received from my salesperson Travis in the Newington,N.H. store. He spent a lot of time with me going over features, demoing it for me, cleaning it and making my purchase easy. Whenever I need anything I'm going back to see him.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I had traded in a bunch of old guitars to get a les Paul at first I was gonna get the deluxe but then decided on the studio with the robo tuners because I play in open tuners also I loved the wine red finish. Well at my next gig the nightmare I was most scared of happened the tuning machines went haywire in the middle of a song. I thought maybe it was my fault because I was inexperienced with the tuning system so I tried it for another rehearsal. It became apparent it wasn't me, it was the robo tuners there can't be any other sound in the room for them to work.
So I returned the guitar but the sales go said I should try the SR version. Well the neck was better, the top was nicer it is just an all around better guitar then the regular 2015 studio it's actually closer to the les Paul classic same neck shape weight and pickups as the classic the only difference I can tell is the classic had binding and a booster switch which is a bit silly any way. When you plug this in, the guitar just sings I'm am so happy I got this guitar as this was my 40th birthday to myself
