After years of playing epis, took the plunge and got the new model Gibson les paul. These aren't for everyone.

Majority of purists hate the min-e-tune or gforce or whatever they call it now. I love it personally, huge time saver. Manually tuning still works fine although needs a few extra turns when you do it. (again, that's a plus to me as it allows more precise tuning).

Had a bit of trouble staying in tune after a few songs, but it's happening less the more I play so thinking the strings just needed to be broken in. Setup was well done, as it better be given that the plek stuff is so highly featured with them now.

The new nut is amazing, but they include zero documentation on properly adjusting it. Everything is referenced to the older models which don't include this years features. Sure, I can look it up. But seriously, this is a Gibson, loaded with U.S. quality. They send you a pic of the thing on the inspection table for the love of god. Include current info!

Solid 57 classic/plus pickup combo which is a huge bonus and much better than what the studio lps usually come with. Great sound and range.

The new logo is just wrong.. and having it say Les Paul 100... It's like they forgot that's also the name of a pretty substandard epi guitar. That Dr Evil looking hologram on the back doesn't do a thing for it either. I'd like to see them get away from that nitro gloss finish too but that's a personal thing I guess. It's still real pretty. (manhatten midnight for mine)

For years I've heard Gibsons practically play themselves, and I finally understand now. I totally get where some of the hate is coming from with the changes being made, but it's a solid guitar, with outstanding quality, sound, and features all over it, and I don't regret buying at all.

I don't know where Gibsons R&D or their quality control has gone. Let's start with the new zero fret nut....I know how zero fret nuts work, I know the potential problems that can occur with them. I expected to see grooves form on the "fret" side. But not so wide and ugly. I mean this looks bad. Playability is also affected, as soon as you bend a couple notes near the nut, the strings will "ping" or actually catch on the edges of these wide grooves pulling you "ever so slightly" out of tune....this is one of those OCD issues I have. When I tune a guitar I expect it to stay in tune..."ever so slightly", doesn't cut it.
I called the Gibson number they give in the box and was told the nearby (2 hours away) authorized Gibson repair tech could fix or replace the nut if needed....My question is, should this have to happen on a brand new guitar?
Went to my local Gibson dealer to show them the pics I took(see attachments), and get their opinions. They too were suprised to see that type of wear....and here is the clincher folks.....this was all after only..... ONE WEEK OF OWNERSHIP.....yea,that's right..one week. All the new Gibsons, and side from maybe customs have this state of the art brass nut.
Needless to say I returned this purchase to a very patient and friendly MF staff. I will buy from them again ...
If you are thinking 2015 Gibson, you may want to go to your local shop and pull one off the wall, before you buy one blind...

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I always wondered why all the pros use a Gibson Les Paul, and now I know. This thing is amazing. The auto tuner is a really cool feature although I didn't care for using it to string the guitar. Do yourself a favor and get some different strings for this guitar also, the ones on it are not so great. I strung it with some NYXL's and it made a world of difference. I can't put this guitar down, been playing it non stop for two weeks now and I REALLY enjoy it. Comfortable neck and the action is great right out of the box.

Hey friends if you love to play but hate to tune, this is my idea of heaven on earth. This is a Gibson through and through, play's like a dream and the G=force tuner is awesome, and take a few minutes online to look at the tuner manual, aka information online(well worth the 30 minutes or even DL it and print it out IMHO.) once you get used to all the new tech with this awesome set up you will be playing like you wished you had at age 16.

A guitar well worth the price !!!!!!

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

This is a really nice guitar for the price. I have the Manhattan Midnight finish. The finish was beautiful. What I really like about this guitar are the 57 and the 57+ PUPS. This guitar really growls in a great way. Very responsive when you roll back on the volume knob. And not over the top like the Burstbucker Pro I have on another LP. I'll be swithching that pick-up to the 57+. I actually like the new neck profile. I did however, remove the G-force and installed a good set of Gibson tuners. My experience with the G-force and the mini -tuner has not been good. Neither tunes as well as a really good tuner and neither stays in tune. Plus I don't like feel of the tuners when manually tuning or having to turn tuners in the reverse direction. In addition to that restringing your guitar with either tuner is a chore. All in all it is a great looking, great playing and great sounding guitar. I do like the new zero fret nut as well.

Complaint about guitars you haven't even played yet...

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I was looking to replace a "long lost" LP Studio (a '96 wine red w/ gold hardware that I ended up selling to buy amps for a PA system I needed more). I was reading reviews on several message boards about the 2015's in general. Many of the complaints I saw were from players that hadn't even played the guitars, but dissed the new necks and the G-Force tuner anyway. I saw a few YouTube reviews that made me take a chance, and I'm glad I did. I went for the Manhattan Midnight finish, as the Desert burst was too close to most common 'bursts, and the new wine red didn't seem to have as well-bookmatched maple as the others, I actually like the new neck. As someone with somewhat thick fingers and a touch of carpal tunnel syndrome, it helps me a lot. As for the G-Force, it is incredibly convenient (I do get those complaining that it shouldn't be standard, but many that complained were against it's very existence, comparing it to training wheels and saying "I can tune a guitar, I don't need this," in a way that made it look like they didn't want it to exist at all, even optionally.). For someone just getting back to guitar (I switched to bass a few years after buying that 1st LP, making it a luxury in a cash-strapped time). I'd buy another one.

awesome and affordable les paul

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I got my new Les Paul Studio about 6 months ago, and I must say that it is awesome. As a hobby player looking to step up my learning and playing, this guitar is perfect! The g-force tuner is not visible, and works great. It is rechargeable with the included charger. The guitar has many tonal qualities: a deep, rich, smooth rythmn, and sharp lead sounds. You can even create others with a few adjustments. I've played a lot of others guitars in my 30 years of playing on and off, but this was a lifetime investment into a keeper of a guitar. Thanks to all at the GC team for the great customer service!

Just got it today and I love it!

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

Feels great in my hands... like a Les Paul should. I've been banging on an Epiphone for a while which is not bad but I noticed the difference right away. I've had numerous guitars over the years but this is my first Gibson Les Paul and I am not disappointed. The wider fret board is excellent even with my small hands. The G-Force Tuner is great so far. I got the Midnight Manhattan color and it looks great but I will be swapping the orange pick up rings and switch washer for black.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I love gibson guitars. This guitar in my opinion plays great. I love everything about it, except for the g force tuning system. I personally like tuning my self and I have a trust issue with the g force, it has "tuned" my guitar out of tune on more than one occasion, especially during live sets and that is not ok my book. I will be replacing gforce with locking tuners. Others may disagree and say that gforce works great and is great for many tunings an can get there quicker than manual tuners but in my opinion i have some trust issues with how it tunes and i'd rather trust my tuner and ear over the machine. (I like the idea of Gforce and I do think it is a cool idea, but for me it is not necessary.)

Other than that i really enjoy the neck i like how thin it is and and the overall feel. Some people commented on the headstock being ugly, but i'm fine with it, It is Les Paul's personal signature. The pickups sound really nice, wether you are playing clean or a dirty including coil tapped.

The guitar looks beautiful, i love the desert burst.
The case is really nice.

I would recommend this guitar to many people, i would just change the tuners unless they like using gforce, and the options of the many different tunings that it can produce.

      Fantastic Value for the Money

      By Jorge

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

This guitar is very sweet for the price. The G-Force helps tune the guitar quick for practice, studio, or gigging. Gibson also included the charger for the G-Force with various connectors for use in different countries. The pull-push knobs allow for a wide range of tones. The overall tone is fantastic. The fretwork is fantastic and even throughout. The case is extremely tough. The photo of the guitar was a nice touch. I purchased mine at the local GC and the customer service was great!
