This is the most versatile Les Paul Standard ever created, the ultimate embodiment of Les Paul’s vision of innovation and elegance, and truly represents a marriage of timeless tone with contemporary flexibility and playability. Key features include a superbly comfortable new asymmetrical rendition of the SlimTaper™ neck profile that fits the player’s hand like a glove, a compound-radius rosewood fingerboard, and stealth wiring for the great BurstBucker Pro™ 1 & 2 pickups that provides individual coil splitting, phase reversal, and Pure Bypass switching all without changing the look of the classic control layout. To top it off, this Les Paul Standard 2013 looks sublime in its Grade-AA figured top in nitrocellulose lacquer. Includes case.
The Les Paul Standard 2013 follows the same formula as the most beloved Les Pauls of all time. The marriage of solid maple top and mahogany back, treated to Gibson’s new modern weight relief pattern for improved comfort and enhanced resonance, provides a blend of richness, depth, punch, and clarity that no single-wood guitar can provide.
A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved in a new asymmetrical version of the popular ’60s profile, making it one of the most appealing necks Gibson has ever produced, and its topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard with a superbly playable compound radius that’s rounder down in the “open chord” positions and flatter up in the lead zone. Traditional trapezoid inlays keep it all looking just right, along with cream binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, amber top-hat knobs, and a traditional black-and-white bell truss rod cover. Classic Gibson constructional elements ensure the new Les Paul Standard plays just like the greatest Standards ever, with traditional specs like a 24 ¾” scale length, and a 1 11/16” width across the PLEK-cut Corian™ nut.
The new Les Paul Standard’s real surprises lurk in its upgraded pickups and extremely clever wiring and control setup. A pair of BurstBucker Pro™ pickups, a #1 in the neck position and #2 in the bridge, follow the blueprint for Gibson’s hallowed PAF humbuckers of the late ’50s, but are updated with potted coils for howl-free performance at high volumes, and four-conductor wiring that allows for incredible versatility.
The independent volume pot for each pickup has push-pull switching to independently split the coils for single-coil tones, with hum-cancelling performance in the middle position thanks to a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity bridge pickup. Pop up the neck pickup’s tone control for reverse-phase tones, or lift the bridge pickup’s tone knob to tap Gibson’s new Pure Bypass setting, which routes that pickup straight through to the output jack, bypassing the volume and tone controls for a hotter, clearer sound, making it a great “instant lead” preset.
The innovative pairing of a locking TonePros™ Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality locking Grover™ kidney-button tuners ensures smooth, accurate tuning.
Each guitar comes protected in a plush-lined hardshell case with black exterior, and includes owner's manual and adjustment literature.

Absolutely flawless instrument. Plays like a dream. There is not much I can say that hasn't already been said. I am very pleased and this one is a keeper. One quality control note... there was a screw missing on the truss rod cover which guitar center promptly replaced for me but otherwise a flawless instrument.
Finally got my dream guitar. Standard HCS. This is my 3rd Les Paul all are great. But this is the one I have always wanted. All my Pauls have played great this is no different. The feel of the neck is great but not sure I can tell much difference vs the other 60's necks. This is my 2nd with coil splitting a very nice feature. Going to take some time to learn the sound possibilities. My fit and finish is flawless. The flaming on the top is very nice. It is unique. I liked this better than one AAA I saw. Is it perfect? No but it is natural so that is not really a correct term. It is beautiful. This is my 59! The best of the past and the present.
I got this at a terrific price when GC was moving these out in Desert burst (2013). When I got it the fretboard was dirty and dry, the bridge need to be intonated, covered with hand-prints, and two of the locking tuners had loose screws in back of pegboard. The fretboard had a lot of hand goo and frets had to be cleaned well on both sides. Fretboard was really dry and had to be linseed oiled a little. Of course stings needed to be changed. Guess I expected that a little setup would be completed before they sent the guitar. But I was able to do all that. When I first called the warehouse they were out but the manager referred me to a nearby store that had one. That was very nice of them.
I recently purchased one in desert burst finish. It's a really solid guitar in every aspect. Very well built, absolutely stunning looks, and most importantly it sounds excellent. A true Les Paul tone with some extra versatility.
I bought mine on 11/1/13 and got the Heritage Cherry Sunburst color and found the flame on this one to be brilliant. Love the feel of the "new" neck and can feell a big difference between my '94 Studio and this one. Love the warm tone of the neck pick up. Disappointed with the sound of the coil splitting, not to much difference. The volume boost is VERY noticeable and a cool feature. Please note that the flame varies, and imperfections of the maple, from guitar to guitar. Just my 2 cents. I love playing Kiss tunes on it, I guess it makes me feel like a kid again!
Gibson Les Paul Standard 2013 Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst,,,,,Oh My....Get one,,,,...Best Gibson Les Paul Standard; since 1959 or 1960, Enough said. New electronics' astounding, to all who dares to try the (4) pull outs...Enjoy
I just picked up the new Standard and I must say that I am not disappointed. I have purchased four other Les Pauls in the past three months, but this one is my dream come true. Electronically, this guitar is magic. So versatile and yet easy to get used to. Very warm and also powerful. This is the first compound radius neck that I have played and I am definitely a fan. Not too sure about the Corian nut. It may just need a little lube. The Grover tuners are a trip! Makes re-stringing much easier. I think Gibson hit it out of the park with this Standard!
