The Gibson Vintage Reissue Guitar Restoration Kit includes Restorative Finish Cream, Premium Fretboard Conditioner, Low-Abrasion Metal Cleaner, and 2 polishing cloths.
I bought this kit figuring it would make my grandfather's old Harmony Archtop sound, feel, and look better, but was highly doubtful that I would get the results I wanted. The Metal Cleaner worked alright, but don't expect it to take off any big rust spots or discollorations. However, the fretboard conditioner and Restorative Finish Cream worked wonderfully! After the first application I decided to put a bunch of conditioner and cream on and I left them on overnight. After buffing the cream and polishing the guitar it looked fantastic and still looks that way.
I've put my beautiful Gretsch through some pretty rough nights that left it looking a bit less attractive than when I got it. But I recently used this Gibson restoration kit on it and now it looks great again! The neck especially is gorgeous. It has a real nice, deep presence again and makes the guitar look like it's hardly seen a day of action. The finish cream did wonders on the body and took away a lot of the superficial marks. Years ago I recieved a similar product from Gibson when I bought one of the SJ200s, and that stuff kept that SJ looking great. So it seems as if Gibson does a good job making guitars and the polish to keep them up too.
I purchased this product at the Guitar Center today and was eager to try it out. I own a Gibson SG Deluxe which was purchased in 1971, so needless to say, it has some wear and tear. After using this product, my guitar looked brand new. The fretboard conditioner gives it a really nice, clean feel. This kit is perfect, whether your guitar is from 1903 or 2006.
