Big, bold, bass from a stunning classic.
The Thunderbird IV debuted in 1963 with the original Firebird guitar series. The most highly respected of all Gibson basses, it was reissued in 1987 with original reverse body styling and TB Plus ceramic magnet humbuckers. Its thunderous output is enhanced by a 9-ply mahogany-and-walnut neck that extends through the body. Mahogany wings, an ebony fretboard, and black chrome hardware provide stunning dark looks. 34" scale, black top-hat knobs with inserts, Schaller tuners, and 3-way adjustable tailpiece. Includes Gibson hardshell case.

Gibson Thunderbird IV Electric Bass Guitar
This bass is great. Construction is unbeatabel. neck feels very solid. 1.5" nut is fast. very resonate body. Pickups are very powerfull and clear with a nice humbucking growl. I play mostly heavy rock, this bass is fast and deap sounding. Dual pickups are very virsatile.

very nice
i recieved mine in the mail in what was supposed to be the "classic white" version, but upon unboxing it i discovered that it was actually a more a creamish color than white. I don't mind it all that much, but would have preferred a classic white.
as soon as i was done tuning it i tried to play a few Red Hot Chili Peppers songs and discovered that it was quite hard to reach the further down frets (15-20).
the bass is great for rock songs that dont travel wayy to far down, and has plenty of punch.
great bass, it is a little heavy though, and unless you have a bigger strap it may fall off.
and it looks nice.

Perfection thy name is Thunderbird
I've spent a lot of time going through bass after bass trying to find just the right sound and have always loved the sound of Gibson guitars. When I found out about the Thunderbird I went out right away to try it out. This was it the perfect sound. Whether I'm playing hrd rock or want to slowi it down a little with some smooth jazz this bass covers it. Before this I was largely a Fender J-Bass, of which I am very pleased, but the Thunderbird just has greater sound tone and much lighter to boot.
Also it pretty!!!

A bass for all music styles
This is an excellent bas for pop and coffee shop style music. This bass has a nice rosewood fingerboard, and it plays great. If you want a bass for rock or metal this is also what you are looking for. If you want something that would complement a acoustic set this is for you. This guitar has a very warm tone and it has a nice shape. This guitar has punch and it can purr like a kitten. This is one awesome all around bass, it is worth every cent!

amazingly playable
I played the Gibson Thunderbird IV at my local Guitar center, and was instantly hooked. My favorite thing about it is the playability. It has a thin neck, so you can really move around the frets. It is solidly built in the U.S., and is a quality machine. Its neck-through style and 9-ply walnut and mahogony neck lend to its great tone. AND IT LOOKS AND FEELS BEAUTIFUL. The reverse thunderbird body is a classic shape that is both attractive and INCREDIBLE+Y comfortable. While it is expensive, it is an amazing find, even if you have to scrimp and save to get it. The one problem with it is the weight, which wont matter much if you have good posture and a good strap. And if you have a $1750 bass you might as well get a nice strap. i strongly recomend this bass for anyone looking for comfort, style, and playability.
