  • A Beautiful Piece of work

As reviewed by MogoHoncho on 12/15/2008

I own a Martin D-28 that I purchased new in 1968. I have been searching for another guitar that would compliment, not replace it, in my home studio production. Something with exquisite sound, but different from the sound of my Martin. The Songwriter is it. Extremely playable, smooth, bright and brilliant tone, and a great feeling neck. The electronics are top drawer and the guitar sounds fantastic when plugged in, although I will be using most of the time unplugged. You can tell it was hand made with care. This is a beautiful instrument, thanks Gibson.

  • The Songwriter Deluxe

As reviewed by BIG DAVE on 11/23/2010

I just purchased my second SWD. I sold my first one 5 years ago and have missed it dearly since then. I tried many other big time name brands including expensive Martins and Taylors ,even a custom shop Breedlove that cost much more than the SW; however none had the shimering sound and tones like this guitar. I am a Gibson man and a Guitar Center fan for working out decent deals for me. This guitar is well balanced and feels better in the hands and arms than most dreadnoughts ,a little smaller in size ,but huge in tone and playability. I do like the tone of Martins and even a few Taylors , but the SWD has its own bell ringing character and the neck , even though unbound is tremendous and comfortable. This is a very loud guitar and also sounds great plugged in. The only Gibsons sounding better in my opinion are the SJ 200 and the Advanced Jumbo, nothing else compares for that Gibson sound. Also, even though the SWD is gaining in popularity and now available in several wood top choices ;it still remains a tone machine secret in the world of dreadnoughts. A GREAT INVESTMENT

  • Buy it and be happy !!!

As reviewed by Connie on 2/8/2011

I purchased this guitar two years ago. It has become a part of my heart; I can't imagine life without it. The tones are beyond beautiful. I play with a group of folks that go to nursing homes, local festivals and lots of local jam sessions. It is a masterpiece! Yes, it was a little pricey . . . I had a little 1973 VW bug I sold to buy it . . . I loved that beetle, but I've never regretted the sale. I feel joy every time I play. Which is everyday...It is impossible to walk pass it without wanting to stop and play.
