NEW REVIEW - Greatest Guitar. . . EVER!
I went into my local GC looking to try out a few ESPs and Ibanezs. After finding out that none of these guitars played and sounded the way I wanted, I thought I was done, and started to walk out of the store. But this beauty just called me to play it, and im glad that I did. While not having the sustain of a Les, the pickups, weight, and overall feel were worlds apart from a Les. The burstbucker pickups can handle any type of music you throw at them. The mahogany adds a richness to the sound that you can only get from a true gibson. It might be a bit pricey for some players, but if you are serious about this guitar, you will NEVER be dissapointed.

An SG Is All You Need
The Gibson SG Standard is the only guitar you'll ever need (besides a Gibson Les Paul) for MANY reasons. This axe is absolutely astounding! The tone out of the humbuckers can climb anywhere from harsh Metal to rolling Jazz/Blues tunes. It's got the bite you need but the sustain to keep you playin' all night long. It looks great and has serious presence on stage. It's also really thin and light compared to a Les Paul (but any guitar is) so you can really whip it around on stage. It will up your sound and up your stage presence too... for those of you that actually play on stages. Overall a great buy and a greater guitar. Later.

How does it get better?
What sounds harder or looks cooler? The Gibson SG is the kind of guitar everyone envies when you pull it out of its case. It draws attention on stage and off, and has the sound to back it up. The two high quality pickups produce a growl that will rock the smallest club to the largest arena. The construction is solid and the hardware top notch. Overall, the best guitar I have ever played, and it will be with me for a long time. If you have a choice between another guitar or a Gibson, the choice is obvious.

Gibson SG Standard
I bought the Gibson SG in a Heritage Cherry finish about a year and a half ago, and it performs brilliantly. The classic tuners included stay rock solid, the bridge saddles have never needed to be adjusted, the inlays were set into the fretboard cleanly (no epoxy on the sides), and the pickups sound amazing. This is a decent guitar for soloing, but doesn't quite have that sustain that a Les Paul has. However, this guitar really shines for rhythm. Flip the pickup switch to the middle position and you'll get some of the warmest, meatiest humbucker tones ever heard. Single note runs and chickin' pickin' don't go over too well with the SG, but the sheer power and warmth of the humbuckers warrants getting or at least trying out this guitar. The price is a little high, but if you have the cash, do yourself a favor and indulge yourself.

Godly
This guitar is absolutely amazing. I've had it for a few weeks now, and its been the best guitar I've ever had the chance to play. Its VERY light and comfortable, and the dual cutaways let you hit all 22 frets easily. The bridge pickup screams and the neck pickup is nice and smooth for clean playing, just change out strings to get full effect. The sustain is massive on it, just as good as a Les Paul in my opinion. I dont know why people complain about the neck being too thick. I have relatively small hands and the neck is just fine, and I actually prefer it to the thinner Fender necks...it fits to your hand better and is very fast. The only downside is the price, which will chase away many people, but if you can afford it, there is none better.

From epiphone to a Gibson SG standard
I have owned two epiphones in the past and changed pickups in both of them.I never was happy. They never stayed in tune or felt right. After selling them and losing a lot of money I finally saved up and bought my first true Gibson SG standard. There is no comparison between epiphone and Gibson. My Gibson SG sounds great and stays in tune. You can tell you are not playing a cheap guitar.I can't put it down. The craftsmanship is simply amazing. Its a dream to play and own. Please don't waste your time and money on anything else.Save up and get a Gibson you will not be disappointed.

Gibson SG Sandard....a classic!
I bought my first SG in 1975. I had to sell it in 1978 and was kicking myself in the butt ever since. I bought the exact Heartage cherry finish SG 2 years ago, payed much more for it but worth every penny!
I have a 62 re-issue fender strat and this SG and use them both in a classic rock band. You really don't need anything else.
I will never sell this SG
