  Neck is a little on the chunky side, which I like. Great access to the upper frets. Much better looking in person than what is seen in the picture. Quality build that has been missing in Gibson for a while now. A straight forward rocking machine. Better design that a DC LP. The only two negatives to me is the weight and pickup choice. It is one 'heavy' guitar. Being solid maple in both body and neck you will feel it. I've never been a fan of Gibson's burstbuckers and this guitar won't do anything but confirm my opinion of them. Being all maple the guitar is very bright in tone. Imo the burstbuckers are fine clean and ok when playing lead. Unfortunately they get even brighter and noisey while losing definition when using distortion for power chords and rhythms. I like the guitar enough to keep it and try warmer pickups. Hope after I do I'm happy because it can't be returned. Like I said a good guitar that 'could' have been great with a couple of touches.

  I recently was looking to buy a new guitar and stumbled across what I thought was going to be my next purchase, which was a double-cutaway les paul. I found it on musicians friend's website and was ready to buy it because they had a sale on it and it seemed like a great guitar. A long story short, I was denied a musicians friend credit card (?) and did not want to simply purchase the guitar on my regular credit card without some sort of financing plan. Since I already had a guitar center card, I stumbled upon this newer Gibson model and was intrigued since it looked so much like the double cutaway. I went ahead and ordered it since they have a 30 day return policy anyway and figured I would give it a chance. It came a few days ago and I cannot stop playing it. First of all, I got the vintage sunburst finish (i know it also comes in a silverburst) and it is beautiful. The pictures of the website don't do it justice. Secondly, I was a little skeptical of the burstbucker pickups since I like a guitar with a warm tone (I own a swamp ash les paul studio and a schecter PT custom). The pickups sound incredible and you can really crank them. I was worried about possible feedback but there isn't any since it is a solid body. The distortion on it sounds so raw and heavy if you want it to be while the clean tones are very bright and crisp. The guitar itself isn't to light or heavy and comes equipped with grover tuners and a nice Gibson case with a white fur lining on the inside (which i've never seen before). I know a lot of people go either way with Gibson, either you love it or hate it. I've always loved their products and was never really happy with the Fender's I've previously owned or the Gretsch's that I've played before (my friend owns a Tenesse Rose). Gibson has the all around package and this guitar was worth every penny. I was also a little nervous since this is a newer model that they just put out but it was worth every penny. Like I said, I've only had it a few days but I definitely don't think I'll be returning it.
