A hotter, faster, more gorgeous LP than you've ever played before!
All the sumptuous ingredients that made the Les Paul name great are in the Gibson Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar in spades: a skillfully carved maple top on a mahogany back perfectly joined to a mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, all powered by a 496R ceramic humbucker in the front and a 500T at the bridge. And the Classic goes a few steps farther with green tuning keys, amber top-hat knobs, plain cream pickguard, true '60s slim-tapered neck, and trapezoid fretboard inlays. Gold hardware on ebony; nickel hardware with all other finishes. Includes Gibson hardshell case.

My first Gibson
I have never really wanted to spend almost $2000 on a guitar and figured that I would probably get the same satisfaction on something that cost only a few hundred. Boy, was I a fool! For years I played on a Hamer Slammer and about a year ago, my wife bought me the Gibson Les Paul Classic in Vintage Sunburst for our aniversary. Not only did it look awesome, the tone brought a tear to my eye. The sound took me back to my grandpa and my dad playing guitar together and I had all but forgot what a real guitar should sound like. I would not trade this guitar for anything.

Amazing.
This Guitar screamed at me when i first saw it. it was amazingly beautiful. but i wanted to see how it would play. oh my gosh, the first chord i played on it i knew it was the one. i took mine home in bullion gold. it plays so smoothly. the 496R and 500T SCREAMM when played on distortion. and are calm when played clean. the only thign i did not like about this guitar was the price. but i got it anyway. and im nto regretting it. i recommend this guitar to anyone who plays anything. this guitar will play anything. ive played stuff from slayer solos to jimi hendrix licks on this baby. its just amazing.

Better than the standard!
I bought this last April for around $1850 with tax and it was well worth it. When clean, you could get a flat sound or a warm, jazzy sound with the flick of a switch. On the distorted channel, it sounds perfect. No room for improvement! The only reason I gave it a 4.5 for features is because it has only a 3 way toggle switch as opposed to the 5 on strats and because it is a little heavier. I was thinking about buying a Gibson Les Paul Standard, but after playing them both, the Classic had a clearer highs when played through a Line 6 Spider III HD150 head. The lows were a little warmer, too. Lastly, the neck felt slightly more comfortable than on the standard. Otherwise, it's the same as the standard. Plus, according to Gibson.com, the pickups on the Classic have a higher frequency output (or they are hotter) than the pickups on the standard. In fact, the bridge pickup is the second hottest model pickup offered by Gibson, and the neck pickup is third or fourth. Lastly, it's cheaper than the standard.

Whos needs a time machine if you got this thing.
That's right folks the Les Paul classic offers all the amenities that one would come to expect from Gibson at bank-friendly price point. First off, the 24 3/4" scale offers the familiar Gibson tension and feel, as does the very comfortable 60's neck profile. The fretwork, as well as the nut work, is superb. Each fret is finished, crowned, and set perfectly into the elegantly inlayed rosewood fingerboard,(12 radius for all you string benders out there). The mahogany body with a maple cap is visually stunning while adding a subtle brightness to the tone. Overall the finish, craftsmanship, and look of this player is outstanding and exceptional for an instrument of this price range.
Now as far as tone is concerned, look no further blues, metal, country, rock, etc fans, this baby?s got the tones. The tone of the guitar changes in context with your setup, for example... plug into a high gain amp and lay down some hot metal sweeps, switch to a pushed clean amp and play a bit of fusion of blues. This instrument sings with sustain and behaves differently for every style.
This guitar sings, plays, and looks like a million bucks at a fraction of the price.

My dream guitar!
I have wanted this guitar since I was 12 years old the first time I saw Jimmy Page. It's looks, sound and feel are amazing.I could not believe how easy it is to play.I bought mine in heritage cherry sunburst.I added nickel pickup covers for a more classic look.I was a little confused that the gibson web site and guitarcenter.com do not show it in this color but I found one at a guitarcenter store.
