It took me 15 years to wear out the case that came with the Guitar. I a 1990 J-200. In the 90's I was a college student and then a grad student and did quite a bit of moving around. I lived in Ft. Worth, Lubbock, Phoenix, San Luis Potosi Mexico, Guadalajara Mexico, Puebla Mexico, Austin and then Houston. Recently moved to the Middle East and the original case wasn't up for the task. I got a new one and Flew back to Qatar with my prized possession in hand. Tip: Try not to let the ribbon that attaches the "door/top" of the case to the case break. Once you do, the top swings open more than is a good for the hinges and puts undue stress on them. Soon, they become bent, worn, and eventually break. I like the fact that the little fuzzy blanket that used to lay over the top of the guitar is gone. That thing was annoying and didn't protect it any more than the inside of the lid. The original case had a 3-digit rolling lock. That was nice. But it isn't like it did a WHOLE lot of preotection. If someone stole the case, they could eventually get into the thing. But it was a nice feature to have as an extra bit of caution when checking the thing in on a flight...should the other 4 latches fail. Love the guitar, had to replace tuners more than once in 20 years. But it sounds like no other.
