All Gibson guitars are built to perform - that goes without saying, considering Gibson is one of the luthiers who made the guitar what it is today. All the same, musicians know what we want when it comes to our instruments, and no matter how good they are, it's up to us to put the pressure on even the greatest brands to make them even greater! When that happens, guitars like the Gibson High Performance Series are the result. Here you'll find instruments covering a wide range of classic Gibson models, with a selection of upgrades and tweaks to make them better than ever. These guitars look and sound like their traditional cousins, but with playability turned up to 11.

So what are a few of those changes? The one you'll notice first is probably the revised "soloist's" neck width, which teams up with a fast-access heel, adjustable titanium zero-fret nut and new G FORCE tuners to help you burn up the strings at high speed. Even the toggle switch and jack have been upgraded - plus, in the 2016 Les Paul Standard HP and 2016 Les Paul Studio HP, Gibson has thrown in a dip switch to allow more than 150 rewiring options.

The goodness doesn't stop at the electronics, either. Materials are refined across the board for these High Performance guitars, including the use of higher-grade woods and genuine mother-of-pearl inlays. Some models, like the Gibson 2016 Les Paul Traditional HP Electric Guitar, even come with a premium aluminum case. And the lineup isn't all Les Pauls and SGs: if you prefer Gibson's more exotic models, make sure to check out the Gibson Explorer 2016 HP Electric Guitar and the Gibson Firebird 2016 HP Electric Guitar while you're here.

Naturally, the best guitar for your personal style and tastes is up to you to decide. But if there's a universal truth about the Gibson High Performance Series, it's that these are fantastic candidates when your priorities are amazing playability, blistering speed and impressive stability. It's the least we'd expect from amped-up versions of tried-and-proven Gibson platforms, and the results absolutely deliver.
