Gibson Custom’s ES-330 is reminiscent of the classic Gibson, late ’50s feel, including the comfortable neck shape blending into the soft curves of the rounded fingerboard binding. The ES-330 is a lightweight, lively sounding guitar whether played acoustically or plugged in. With the 16th fret neck joint and just the right neck angle, it’s got a great feel that makes you want to play all night.
The combination of exacting ’50s body and neck specifications and slightly underwound P-90 pickups on aged nickel-plated bases tied together with an original spec wiring harness will bring you back to the tones of Grant Green in a laid-back New York jazz club. Run it through an old tube amp and you won’t be able to keep from playing one British Invasion song after another.
The weight, the feel and the tone of this ES-330 are magical. Offered in old-school colors and all finished in Gibson's warm Vintage Original Spec process, it’s a guitar that just makes sense from beginning to end.

I brought my Epiphone 1961 50th Anniversary Casino to the Englewood, CO store to do an A to B comparison with the Gibson ES-330 VOS. Neither guitar had a Bigsby vibrato.
The Casino 50th has the standard Gibson P-90's on it and they are hotter than the underwound P-90's on the 330 and can drive the amp into distortion sooner. (makes sense) The neck on the Casino is definitely a thinner 60's profile compared to the chunkier 50's profile on the 330.
Playing both unplugged, the 330 had a fuller, more acoustic or piano kind of resonance. The Casino had a tighter, thinner sound to it. The Casino has a wooden block inside the body between the tune-o-matic bridge and the bridge pickup; the 330 is fully acoustic and doesn't have the block. Though, it was quite a surprising contrast.
Plugged in the 330 has a warmer, fuller sound probably due to the vintage style P-90's and the body's acoustic quality, but P-90's still had bite.
The Casino has the shiny poly finish on it and the 330 has the more satin hand-rubbed lacquer finish. The Casino has chrome hardware and the 330 has nickel hardware with the VOS treatment.
All in all I'd say the two are in different parts of the spectrum, the Casino with modern P-90's would do rock easier with a tighter more solid body sound. And, the ES-330 VOS would do jazz or 50's style rock & roll easier. With a little knob tweaking one could probably do either style with the Casino or the ES-330.
I traded in the Casino and bought the 330. The other ES-330 VOS with Bigsby in the store was sold to another player at the same time I bought mine. Get 'em while you can!
