Overview

The Gibson Explorer's radical body shape debuted in 1958 and was almost 20 years ahead of its time. The original Explorer of 1958 was more radically modernistic than its famous cousin, the Flying V. Not until the late 1970s did rock and roll's most daring guitarists embrace the Explorer, and that classic styling is captured on today's Explorer.

A solid mahogany body and stopbar bridge are the primary elements of tone and sustain for this awesome axe, which you can wield handily thanks to the Explorer's player-friendly setup. A 19th fret neck joint means you can shred all the way to the highest notes on a rosewood fretboard. A tune-o-matic bridge and mini Grover tuners keep your strings spot on in tune even when you're bending the night away. All this awesome sound is superbly telegraphed to your amp by two ceramic magnet humbuckers. Lewis and Clark would be jealous.
