The Johnny A. Signature model electric guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop combines innovative design with vintage Gibson appointments to create a modern classic.

The revolutionary body is completely hollow with an arched and contoured outer surface and a flat inner back, resulting in a guitar that resonates more like a flattop than an archtop. The alluring face of this exquisite instrument is a beautifully figured solid AAA maple top. It rests atop an exclusive Gibson body style and size with back and rims carved from a single block of mahogany.

Johnny A. custom neck profile, and custom pearl fingerboard inlays combine with traditional Gibson features like multi-ply binding, gold hardware, and an Richlite fretboard to create an instrument that captures the magic of Gibson's past while eagerly anticipating the future. Includes case.

    Gibson at its Best

    By Dave

    from Nashville, TN

Comments about Gibson Custom Johnny A. Signature Electric Guitar with Bigsby:

The Custom Johnny A is the finest semi-hollow body I have ever played and is probably the overall best electric guitar as well. From the first sitting with this instrument, it fell immediately into a naturally balanced playing position so comfortable that it felt like it was part of me. The excellent balance is due to the smaller and lighter body compared to the full sized semi-hollows. It can rest on either leg without the tendency to want to slip off and support of the neck in any position is not necessary regardless of the playing angle. The smooth ebony fretboard and ideal fret size and shape make playing a breeze. Although I have played a few guitars with action as good or maybe a little better, I think the action on the Johnny A is very fast and will also accommodate varied playing styles. Owner should be able to tweak the instrument to their liking with out difficulty. And, its clean smooth sound is a great starting point for effects you may want to employ. Of course, while a guitar's sound and playability are probably its most important attributes, one cannot help but feel that this wonderful thing of beauty sitting in your lap makes you feel like you must play better to deserve it. And, I think the feeling in my playing improved immediately. This instrument is surely something special. I only hope that Gibson can maintain the quality of future Johnny A's given the reduced availability of fine wood and the pressure for increased margins. Gibson must do its best to maintain the quality of materials and workmanship to assure at least a limited supply of these fine instruments will be available to coming generations.
