The two-pickup Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, positioned between the low-cost Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul. Originally available only in a single-cutaway, TV-style limed mahogany finish, a double-cutaway Special and cherry red finish option were introduced in 1959. The 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cutaway is now part of Gibson's Vintage Original Spec series.
Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cutaway VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case and a certificate of authenticity.

I am based in the UK & own an original 1959 Les Paul Special in the Yellow. I was interested to see how this guitar compared. I am completely blown away with it. It is incredible & sounds as good as my original. I made my mind up in seconds without even plugging it in. It actually plays a little better due to fret ware on my original. It does everything you could want from a guitar. The plek set up is unreal.I own a lot of good guitars & this is the most excited I've been over a guitar in years. It a real guitarists guitar. Amazing. Well done Gibson.
