The 1960 Les Paul 3-Pickup Custom is presented with all the appointments and renowned tone of the original. No detail is overlooked, including a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body with carved mahogany top. Vintage-style Kluson kidney tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, just as they were on the original. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon”one of the Les Paul's more distinguishing characteristics of the 1950s. The neck has the Gibson '50s "C" shaped neck profile and is topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard outfitted with block inlays matching the size of color of the originals. This unusual Custom has three pickups: two of Gibson's famed Burstbucker 1 pickups in the neck and middle pickup position and a BurstBucker 2 pickup in the bridge position. BurstBucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone by using historically "unmatched" bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. The original 1960 Les Paul Custom was the first Custom model to offer the Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece and so does this 1960 edition. The 1960 Les Paul Custom is adorned with gold hardware and is framed with multi-ply white and black binding on both the top and back. The multi-bound headstock has a prominent five-piece split diamond patterned inlay and the Gibson logo. Each guitar also comes with a Gibson Custom case and certificate of authenticity.
