All the glowing vintage beauty of the deep metal-flake gold top with the thick, gorgeous tone of "Patent Applied For" humbuckers the first year they came out. Now called BurstBuckers (a 1 at the neck and a 2 at the bridge), they're joined to the original CTS pots and bumble bee caps for totally authentic tone. Nearly black finish on the mahogany back. Early '50s rounded neck profile provides vintage feel, too.

Beautiful Work of Art in Both Tone and Looks

By Joey C

from Rockville, MD

Comments about Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback Reissue Electric Guitar:

I own this guitar and it is truly a work of art in both tone and appearance. I am a recording musician so tone is my most important criteria and this baby sings as pretty as she looks. The Gibson Custom Shop went back to the original 1957 specs and nailed it. The neck is true to the '50's style and is super fat giving the guitar even more sustain and warmth than any other Les Paul I own. The Dark Back gives the guitar a beautiful color contrast that makes the Goldtop finish shine even more than on traditional Goldtops. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone who appreciates vintage tone and quality craftsmanship. Gibson got it right in 1957 and now we can have a great piece of that era.
