Overview

1956 was a big year for the Les Paul Goldtop. It was the first year that the Les Paul wore the Tune-o-Matic bridge (aka ABR-1). This bridge design represented a major advance in functionality. It anchored the strings more solidly improving sustain, had adjustable saddles for better intonation, and thumbwheels allowed it to be raised or lowered for preferred action. It was in many ways the first modern Les Paul.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series instruments., the 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, a certificate of authenticity, and custom care kit.

great guitar

Comments about Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar:

I have a 1959 vos and love it. I wanted a 56 vos but was worried it would not be as good. Let me just say my 59 hardly gets touched now. The vos in this guitar is incredible looks like it is a 50 year old guitar just with out any dings. Sounds incredible and is a little lighter than my 59 which is nice on the back. The neck is thick but after a day I learned to love it, and the sustain is incredible. If you are looking for a top of the line Les Paul with p 90's that is not made like Swiss cheese. Give this a shot. Let your wife know first cause she will notice this purchase on next months credit card bill.

Amazing Recreation

Comments about Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar:

This guitar is about as close to the 1956 Goldtop as a guitar can get. I was fortunate enough to play one at a Guitar Center and the guitar is amazing. The P-90's have their own distinct sound and it feels like your playing an original 56. Straight from the Gibson Custom Shop this guitar is in spottless condition and the feel of the VOS alone will drive you INSANE! THe playibility is great and it's not nearly as heavy as most people whine about. Let's see those people play a solid Mahogany Black Beauty. This axe is amazing despite the extreme price. If I ever have the money to buy one I won't hesitate. Great Gibson!A+++++++++++++++++
