Best Purchase I've Ever Made

I bought a black LP Custom with gold hardware when I was 16 years old after working all summer at a fast food joint to save up the money to buy it. Well, it's 16 years later and the guitar has been nothing short of a fantastic instrument. I played in a working band for years in Minnesota, sweating all over it in hot crowded bars, then dragging it out to the van in below-zero temps, only to do it all over again the next weekend. All the abuse it's taken--cold, heat, drops to the floor, beer thrown on it--and I've never had to do anything but change the strings. I used to have an expensive guitar with a locking tuning system and it didn't stay in tune anywhere near as well as this guitar, not to mention the hassle if you broke a string on stage. And it sounds SO good -- it's heavy, but so is the tone. You just won't find an off-the-rack guitar with a richer sound. The one I own was worth every burger I flipped to buy it. It's got some nics and dings, the finish is marred where my forearm rested while playing, and the gold is worn off the pickups and bridge from rubbing against my hand, but it still sounds awesome. If my house were on fire and I could only save one thing, it would be this guitar.

THIS IS THE ONE!

Worth every dime. An amazing electric guitar. From a powerful clean jangle, to rock, punk & jazz. I spent 5 hours in GC playing everything from Gibson & many other brands. The custom LP stands above all. The tone & sustain is amazing. I got the alpine white (it looks a lot better in person than in photos) it is beautiful. When you walk on stage with this piece of art people know they are in for something good. Like all great guitars, this one makes you want play all the time. This guitar is a great example of why Gibsons are legends. A must for serious pros.

Chris

I just picked this guitar up a week ago at a local guitar center and I love it. I played it vs. a les paul standard and it was like night and day. The standard played well, but the custom was in a different league. This axe oozes charisma. The action was set nice and low right out of the box and the quality of workmanship was incredible. The Custom is solid Mahogany throughout the body as opposed to the chambered construction of the standard and it really makes a difference. I prefer the heavy weight. To me that's what makes a les paul a les paul and gives it its signature tone. The other thing I like is the neck. I'd prefer the 60's slim neck, but this neck is not as rounded as the 50's. It plays very fast. Bottom line this guitar is a work of art and a timeless instrument. It's worth every penny.

THE BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!!

I just recently purchased one, and I cna't put it down. The action on the neck is so comfortable, and it's straight from the factory! The neck is fast and the humbuckers give a nice crunch through a Marshall half stack. So don't spend time thinking, and just go buy it, you won't be sorry.

Excellent

Any guitar, or anything for that matter is expensive at over $3000, however, if you are considering a guitar in this range, whilst rightly so being aprehensive about spending that much, think no further!! I play everything from classical to blues, to general rock, and let me tell you, using those four knobs for volume and tone, you can certainly find the sound your looking for no matter what. This guitar is especially good if your into blues; just put it into rythem, during the verses, and when you want that awesome twang that you won't find on another guitar, put it into treble on clean. Its probably the most versatile gibson you could buy, perhaps an SG is just as versatile, but you can really get some kicks from this guitar!!!!

The Cream of the Crop

The Les Paul Custom is the cream of the crop! In my opinion, it's the best production model that Gibson makes (to get any better you'd have to get a high priced custom shop model) Mine is black with gold hardware...it's absolutely gorgeous! When I first got mine, I spent more time looking at it than playing it. This guitar really excells for lead guitar playing. The maple top, ebony fretboard, and 490R/ 498T pickups, yield a tone that cuts through the mix. If you're a serious player that demands the best, buy this guitar and forget the rest!

Don't have it, YET!!

I went into guitar center about a year ago and there it was, an alpine white LP custom. As soon as I picked it up there were no flaws at all, amazing playability and sound. Just a week ago, walkin into GC, there it was. Now that I can play better, and starting a Metallica Cover Band, I thought "WHy not give it a try?" Basicly, my Ibanez RG is goin away. I don't own this guitar yet, but just by playing it I felt like this guitar would do so much! It's sounds can go from heavy Metallica to sweet Eric Johnson. My friend was lookin at Guitar Tabs and I would play all of them!! I didnt let that guitar go even when it was closing time!! A real, true, god over all guitars.

The monster I always come back to

I've had my Black Les Paul Custom for 31 years now. I've played many guitars and this is the one I always come back to when I want a huge sound. I played in top 40 cover bands, a punk band in 80-82, a progressive band in the mid 80s, heavy rock in the late 80s, blues and country in the 90s, and a metal/gothic rock band now. It has been through crazy abuse on stage and off and is still great all these years later. This and my modified Strat are all I need to get the variety of sounds I'm going for. Awesome guitar...nuff said!!!

It Is A Dream

My Strat, and Ibanez are good but just didn't have that deep resonating sustain that I wanted. When my friend finally let me play his I had to get one. The cost was there but the sound and feel was worth every penny. One of the best investments I've ever made.

Worth Every Penny

I like all my guitars but my Les Paul Custom is my default "go to guitar" It never sounds bad, no matter what amp I've played it through. Artificial harmonics just jump right off of it, and the over all tone is heavier than a mofo. I have a wine red one now and I plan on adopting a brother for it, this time in black. They're expensive but if you're capable of saving cash they are obtainable. This is a guitar that you will most likely keep for the rest of your life.
