  • Gibson ES335

As reviewed by Tim Rose on 7/1/2010

I have dreamed of owning a Gibson guitar since 1964.I was finally able to afford one that I wanted. The 335 figured top is not only stunningly beautiful but is a dream to play. The separation of tone between the pickups gives an infinite variety of tones. I have just started to study Jazz and the bass of this guitar sings almost as smoothly as the treble. I love the neck profile which enhances playability like no other guitar that I have owned. Regardless of the style from smooth Jazz to rocking surf, this guitar meets the challange

  • I Love My 335

As reviewed by Don Crisafulli on 9/5/2010

A few decades or so ago, I saw Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour within about a month of one another. At that point, I thought, "It won't be today, tomorrow, or next week, but one of these days, I WILL own a 335." Well, that came to pass in the late spring of 1988 after I received a beaucoup tax refund while coming to and mourning the realization that my damaged/jerry-rigged SG Custom had reached the end of the line. That was and remains the best instrument-purchase decision that I've ever made. My (natural/"blonde") 335 does it all: blues, R&B and soul, rock, "elevator" music, whatever; all that and with the finish mellowing and the wood grains becoming more pronounced after 20+ years, it's pretty, too. If someone was to ask me what instrument to acquire if he or she could have just one electric guitar with cost being little or no object, I'd reply, "A Gibson ES-335," before he or she was able to finish asking the question.

  • these guitars SCREAM!!!!!

As reviewed by faron mitchell on 10/23/2006

I thaught a 335 was just a blues guitar, I wish I had it when I played southern rock! The tone of the 57 classic humbuckers are clean and full but you can make it overdrive by just using pick attack. Ive never played anything that did that. These guitars sound so good and they are versitle dont let anybody tell you otherwise i plan to play it ALOT in my new blues band i also have a les paul and a firebird so dont think that just any gibson can make the same sound all three sound totally different. try one of the es 335s you will NOT be dissapointed!
