This Is Where It Is At
137 is the best of all worlds. The incredible sustain that comes from the guitar alone takes the place of any sustain pedals that were once part of my board. I find that playing with it plugged straight into my amp gives me some of the fattest tone that I have ever experienced. I bought the guitar because I had been wanting something that could produce a good jazz tone, but still well in a fusion/funk setting. The ES-137 took the cake.

Fantastic Axe!
Ok, you're going to think I'm nuts... I traded in my ES 335, which I had for about 3 years, in order to get a 137. Even though I loved the 335, I found that when I took it out on gigs it just stayed in the stand and collected dust... mainly because I HATE the positioning of the upper strap post (on the back of the neck) and am not nuts about the pickup switch being down by the vol/tone knobs either. Also not nuts about jacking in on the face of the guitar. The 137 overcomes all of these, with comparable (if not superior) sound and playability... I can't seem to put this thing down. Also, for my money the 137 is much better looking as well. Go to your local Gibson dealer and play one... but don't go without the $$, because you WILL want it!

Tone Tone Tone
I have always been a Gibson player, so when I went looking for a hollowbody I naturally started with the ES-335. There happened to be a ES-137 on the wall as well so I tryed it and instantly fell in love. This thing has unbelievable tone at any volume. Clean, it is the sweetest sound in guitar in my arsenal. Distorted, it flat out screams with controlable feedback that will blow you away. Even my drummer raves about this guitar whenever I break it out.

Gibson ES-137 "A simple secret\
I spent most of the last month researching all the most popular guitars, and played just about every guitar for sale in my home town. Without a doubt this guitar out shines all the competition and the best part is nobody knows about it. The Gibson hollow-bodies are well respected and the ES-137 classic is no exception to that heritage. This guitar has everything you need from that clean blues sound to a crisp distortion remeniscent of AC/DC. The tonal range is outstanding. With a few twists and turns this guitar can scream in a plethora of languages. I play it through a Fender Princeton 65 (180watt)connected to an additional speaker cab and the sounds are so perfect for what I like to do with the guitar. I fully recomend this guitar for anyone and any music. Aside from playability this guitar is a work of art. I own the tri-burst and chrome, and I have to take a few minutes just to look at the craftmanship every time before I play. IF your looking for a Gibson and want a sleeper that everyone will ask you about, Get yourself one of these beauties, and rock on!

Great Gibson
I have had this guitar for about 6 mths & LOVE IT! Originally went into GC thinking I?d buy a gretsch (which are also very sweet), with the help of a super GC sales guy, I played almost every hollow body in the place. This one won out because it is an amazing blend of a LP & the Gibson ES 355. The touch is that famous Gibson feel, tone is fantastic ? from jangle rock, punky garage, super clean leads, your name it, you can play everything on this guitar. It is also massive value for the money & looks GREAT. This Gibson makes you want to play it all the time. I now rarely play my other electrics. Buy one & love it.

Love my ES-137
Just picked up an ES-137 at my local guitar center and I love it. I grew up playing an Gibson L-4 archtop acoustic and have for years been playing a Les Paul. The ES-137 gives me a great blend of hollow body mellowness and Les Paul boldness. Sounds great for rock, country or more folk rock sounds. A lot lighter in weight than my Les Paul and my aging back really appreciates it. Blue burst looks great! I put .009 gauge strings on it to make it play a little easier (I love to bend a lot) - had to raise bass side of bridge just slightly. The ES-137 has made me fall in love with playing my guitar again!

Purchased a Heritage Cherry 137 Classic in 04 and the new still hasn't worn off. Over 40 years of rock (now clasic) country, and blues, and this Gibson gem covers it all. Used it recently in the studio through a Crate Club 50 and man what an ax. All of that and the damn thing is still the most beautiful guitar I'v ever owned. The only reason it will never outshine a Les Paul is because the LP has been out there for ever and this guitar is un-noticed. The ES137 in my opinion will become as legendary as the 335 and the LP are now. Give it time. The only way to make this guitar better would be to get Gibson to build a ES137 Classic Supreme AAAA and maby add a pezio system to it.

Tri-burst Beauty
The ES 137 Classic I recieved for Christmas '05 has replaced my vintage Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" and I've nicknamed her "Baby". Nobody puts "Baby" in the corner. The pickups provide the Les Paul sound as well as the neck pickup can get the jazz tone working with the tone knob. Quality made in the USA and will stay in my collection forever. Love the sound when played through my 1965 Fender Super Reverb fitted with one 15" Eminence speaker for unbelievable clean sound or kicked into high gear with Tubeworks Real Tube pedal and wah.

Lovin' it very much
The guitar arrived in perfect playing condition. Got to hand it to those Nashville cats. I got the Heritage Cherry color and love the look. Plays great, too. I own several other guitars, Strat, Tele, Ric 12 string, LP, some vintage, but I love this guitar. I can get some great sounds from it. The guitar will not dissappoint. I got it because I sometimes need a Jazz sound but I also need it to be bluesy and ballsy, and this unit will give me a great sound for all of that. The guitar is really for the player who needs an all-around guitar to do multiple styles. Not too bad on the budget, either.
