Use this Gibson potentiometer with archtop guitars as a volume or tone control. 500kOhm, taper long shaft.

1st.. this pot is nothing like the oem pot you may find in your gibson now. The quality of this pot is excellent. With a smooth, real, audio taper that you can actually work with. I have replaced many oem pots that were little more then on/off switches with no real range of taper. There are many gibsons out there with 300K pots. These seem to work ok with a very low gain signals but, once you add any type of gain the pot acts too fast, giving no range to the taper. This pot is the cure. The pot may feel a bit stiff when first installed. It will break in very quickly and have a great feel. Then there will be a difference between 10 and 8, or 5 and 3. Players with very touch-sensitive amps will welcome the change. Also it will return some of the good highs back to your signal. I can highly recommend these for any 500K vol pot application. Great price, fast delivery. It's a win / win situation. MaxxPlay Electrick-garage
Just picked these up to replace the fried pots on my Schecter and these pots are heavier and have a higher quality of workmanship compared to the old pots. I just hope they last longer than the stock ones.
Under average circumstances I wouldn't bother with a review. I mean, it's a variable resistor, right! However, I have to mention that in this case, Gibson (or their supplier) dropped the ball. The 500kOhm pots were fine, but the necessary mounting hardware wasn't in the packages. Neither package included a backing nut for adjusting the exposed control shaft height, and one package omitted the dress washer that goes under the top nut. This isn't this site's fault, but Gibson, who's been in the electric guitar business for a long time, and who's name and logo are all over the packages, should be more consistant.
