I bought my rack in 06'. It was a good rack for about a while. Just a little small. Now i have to use plyers to tighten the clamps just so it doesn't slip and now it is bent in some places. It wobble because it doesn't have 4 legs and the stands that came with it had to be replaced in a few months. my opinion. spen a little more money and get another rack. pearl is the best choice.

I never liked toms mounted on to the bass. For me, the bass impact resonating through the toms while being connected was not a good thing, particularly when you might be recording - I liked toms isolated. So in my last kit, I purchased pearl cymbal holders, two of which had tome mounts (with the tom bracket on a ball adjust), This allows you to position the toms above your bass drum within the adjustment range of the bracket, but still subject to where the centre of the cymbal stand would be. Even though I would mark my rug for stand position, it never failed that in a setup I would be tweaking everything to find my position. And with three cymbal stands and on the left, the hi hat and snare stand all competing for floor space, it was difficult to "snap" everything into its ideal place. In the studio recently, I played a kit miked for recording (pearl reference studio set) and the kit's cymbals and toms were mounted to a Pearl rack (aluminium square tubing). Again, the technician did not want resonance to the toms, ergo the rack. I was so impressed with the rack that I decided to try one. I read the reviews and the great reviews Gibraltar got plus the fact that I liked the look of the chrome tubing decided me in that direction. When I got the rack, it did take me some time to tweak it in, but once done, I have to say it is rock solid. It is VERY easy to adjust to suit and takes up much less floor space, that is, there is much less clutter at my feet. The repeatability is excellent and much faster than the individual stands. As a surprise result, the weight of the rack broken down is much less than the sums of the three heavy duty stands I was using, and that is a blessing in my opinion - gone are the affluent days when we could afford band guys to lug our stuff around. My only negative comment is that the rack comes with a screw in method to attach the uprights to the feet. To fit the rack in a transport bag (50" roadrunner) you have to unscrew the uprights from the floor legs and this is time consuming, so I purchased the Gibraltar SC-GPRTL T-leg clamps to eliminate the step and make this attachment easy. In my opinion, it is how they should supply the kit. All in all a small gripe. Everything looks rugged, now lets see how it holds up after many one night stands.
There are many options available to you for various configurations, heights, angles etc. equal to anything you can come up with. I actually put 2 toms per clam using a double stand head, and once the clamp was locked in the toms were solid as a rock, no movement at all, and I was hitting them hard. Clamps are versatile and can fit any hardware. I have a combination of Ludwig, Tama and Gibraltar hardware and they all were accommodated. The only negative is that the feet were problematic to put on, time consuming, but once they are on they're great. If you're a gigging drummer and need a quick set up, leave the feet on for a faster set up. I'm going to try to leave all the hardware on the rack so that the only breakdown are loosening the two clamps holding the crossbar to the legs, then I'll carry it in just three pieces and it will take me literally 10 minutes to set up the whole kit. I should have done this years ago!!
This rack met all of my needs, mounting all of my cymbals (haven't tried toms on it though). Everything on this rack is rock solid, and I was particularly impressed when I tried mounting a 22" ride on a side wing and it never gave. Absolutely worth the price, plus it's super light and easily portable.
A great rack system. you cant ever go wrong with Gibraltar. it made my drums look great. not much wobble. dints easy though. over all ide definitely recommend this to any drummer. your going to love this rack system!
Bought this with my new renown kit. Everything is set up on it on top of my rug. It keeps everything nice and sturdy. Lots of options. Just get it. It's worth it.
Good rack system, solid and built pretty well. Good price and well worth the money. The only thing I would say do do to improve it is to get some T-leg clamps for the T-legs to minimalise wobble. All in all great rack so far. I cannot vouch for durability over time though since I have not had it long.
This stand is perfect for getting into customizing your kit. The possibilities are practically endless! Take advantage of the locks and your setup time will be cut in half. When setup correctly, this rack is very solid and stable. If you're very picky about positioning, get this rack.
I got this to replace all the stands I've been using. As a start up rack, this comes with everything you expect in a rack. The picture displayed is exactly what you get (and a drum key). When I put it together, it felt strong, sturdy, and ready to with stand all the abuse I was about to put into it. After abusing it, it still stood shiny and strong. Defiantly a must buy, but by some more arms if you use more then just a crash, ride, and hi-hat.
I got this drumrack about a month ago and from the instant I was done setting it up I knew it was a good idea to get it, and my performance afterward showed no doubt in my mind it was the right choice. I can play much better now that i have this rack, it makes setting things up to your liking so much easier and so much more affordable then going out to buy another $50 stand every time you get a cymbal. I currently have a 10 and 12inch in splash, 16 and 18inch crash, 20inch ride, 18inch china, 12,13 and 16inch tom all mounted on my rack and it hardly moves. This rack is great for people just starting out who dont wanna overspend or when stands just arent cutting it anymore. Get this rack, you wont be dissapointed.
got this Gibraltar Starter Rack last june. it holds a 14x12 rack tom and 3 cymbals on the main beam, a cymbal on each tower and a 16x14 rack tom and 2 cymbals on the right wing arm. with all that weight on the wing it started to sag so I added a 20" straight tube and clamp for stability and a clamp on the left wing for my hi hat stand. I eliminated 7 cymbal stands and this thing is super stable(with the additions I made)and can take the rigors of a working drummer. I am 100% satisfied and highly recommend this rack. after playing the drums over 25 years I wish I would've racked em years ago. That's it !! Rock on !!
