Comments about Gemini Dual 2u CD/mp3 Player:
I purchased this unit for Mobile DJ use. I've used it now at two intense gigs, and it has worked flawlessly. It has read all the CDs I've put in it, even my scratched and burned CD compilations, so that's been great. For the price, I think it's a great deal, but if you are used to higher end equipment, there is a difference, and here are the differences. I have been using the Deonon DN-D4000 for years, and I LOVE it, but as of late, one side has not been as dependable, sometimes reading CDs, sometimes not, and I wasn't ready to pay another $500-$600 for a new one. So, I'm comparing the Gemini to the Denon, which isn't really fair, but here's what I've learned. 1) The Gemini takes a long time (like 5 seconds or so) to read CDs after inserting them. Then, selecting a track takes longer because there's no turn button like on the Denon. You have to hit the next button, and it takes longer and is sort of clunky. So you have to choose your songs more in advance. With the Denon, I might make a last-second change, and the CD would be read quickly and nearly instantly start. 2) I have to add more gain to the Gemini to receive the same volume from the speakers. I still have the Denon installed, and it sends a hotter signal to the mixer than the Gemini, so I had to fiddle with the channels a bit so they would be even. I also think the sound quality coming from the Gemini is a bit flat compared to the Denon, but it's not something the guests would notice. 3) Button layout is not as user friendly as the Denon, and the buttons don't light up, which is really helpful when working in dim light. I like the blue display on the Gemini better that the Denon though. Bottom line: the Gemini CD player worked great. It's a good value for an entry-level unit, and none of the CDs skipped or stalled, and that kept the dance floor packed, my customers happy and earned me two new gigs in the process. If you want a better CD player, you'll have to pony up the extra $300-400 for the Denon to make you happy.
Comments about Gemini Dual 2u CD/mp3 Player:
I been using the Numark CD-88 for the last five years and loved it. This one is a back up. It cost a bit more. This unit is nice. The problem I have is the loop is a little off the beat most of the time. It reads media slow but it reads almost everything though. No scratching, but for the money is a good unit.
