Comments about Gator Frameworks Telescoping Boom Arm:

This boom is very adjustable and locks into position well. However, it does not have a counter weight so it needs to be mounted on a stand with a very heavy base. If installed on a tripod type stand, it can only be used with very light microphones. That being said, I do like the boom.

    Not a Solid Boom Arm

    Pros

      Cons

      • Poorly Constructed
      • Very Difficult To Tighten

      Best Uses

Comments about Gator Frameworks Telescoping Boom Arm:

This boom arm is poorly constructed. The counter weight is non existent. When you tighten the main device for angling the boom arm, it doesn't hold the angle you set when you add the weight of a microphone. It slips immediately. You then have to tighten it way beyond how tight it should be. In one weeks time, I have stripped three of these boom arms to where they will no longer hold at all. The threads to attach a microphone clamp are slightly small. Of the 5 I have ordered, two of the threads were too small to screw on a basic SM58 mic clamp. I tried three other brands of mic clamps and they would not fit either.

Don't waste your money on this boom arm. It is cheaply made and difficult to manage. You CAN get it to work but it is not fast so if you need to make quick adjustments to the angle, this is not the boom arm for you. It requires a great deal of torque to get it tight enough to hold the weight of a microphone. I would not consider this item again for studio or tour use.
