We purchased two gator cases for our trip to South America this summer. We needed to take two acoustic guitars, in the mid to upper range in price, so we really needed high quality cases. I looked locally in out Guitar Center store and did not find anything that I felt would withstand the rigors of air travel. I asked the salesperson about Gator cases and he informed me they were available online. A friend had recommended Gators, so I went ahead and purchased them blindly. Both guitars fit perfectly in the case, with essentially no wiggle room. We flew roughly 10,000 miles during this trip, checking the guitars as baggage, and the guitars and cases survived with no issues. I would highly recommend these cases for anyone that needs to ship guitars as baggage.

I recently purchased a 1960 Gibson J45 and it only came with a soft gig bag. I have been gigging ever since I got the J45 and worrying about carrying such a rare gutar around. In addition, I will be returning to Japan shortly and needed a TSA type case for the flight, so we ordered this case delivered to my house. The case came quicky and looked great. It was a bit heavy, but nice design and cool TSA locks. But neither my J45 dreadnought, nor my Guild dreadnought could squeeze inside this case. I suspect they send the next smaller size, although the invoice showed specifically dreadnought. Mislabeled, or mishandled? I don't know. I took it back to the Plano GTC and they exchanged it with a Roadrunner case. It is extrememly lighter, but does not have the ATA locks. Still which I had a light case like the Road Runner, but with cool style and TSA locks like the Gator.

Comments about Gator ATA Molded Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar Case with TSA Latches:

Here's the deal. I have purchased and destroyed a lot of guitar cases. My experience has been that they all eventually fail. Handles, clasps, hinges, and corners. All. Fail. To be fair, this case fits my vintage Alvarez 5064 (dreadnought with cutaway) very well on the sides. It doesn't fit so well on the top. For instance, if I set the cased guitar down quickly I can hear the strings ring a little. Also, if I press on the top a bit it has a little too much give in my opinion. I feel like the bridge could get pressed down quite a lot if something were stacked on top of it. Not too confidence inspiring.

I have no idea how well the clasps will hold up, so I am reserving judgement on this component.

The thing is, this is not the cheapest case out there. It sure looks nice and gets high marks from other reviewers. It is by no means junk, but I was hoping for a little more.

Got my acoustic over to Europe safe and sound. That was the criteria. It has enough storage for a strap, tuner, slid, capo and extra set of strings. It is strong, yet not much heavier than my Martin case. Great price.

Comments about Gator ATA Molded Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar Case with TSA Latches:

I have flown with this case all over the world, mainly from the US to Asia and Europe, and ALWAYS as checked baggage. I have lost count of how many flights this thing has been on, and it still looks nearly new. Only signs of use are a few scuffs, inspection/airport stickers, and one of the little "feet" on the back came off. Gator said they would fix/replace it if I would ship it back. I have not done so, as it's really not a major problem.

My guitars all fit in this case, and the protection is very good. Not only has it been on flights, but it has been in loaded trailers, been in harsh environments/rain, and has protected the guitar amazingly well. It is a bit on the heavy side, but hey... it has to be, and that's fine by me. This case has proven it's worth over and over. It will be with me for a long time to come!

Comments about Gator ATA Molded Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar Case with TSA Latches:

This travel case is solid! It is on the big side. And most flights if you ask if you are able to take it on board. Are usually ok with it as a carry on. However on smaller planes they will ask you to check it at the gate. Then somone will bring it back up to you from the bottom of the plane. The only thing I wish is that it was a little lighter and had more locks on the system. But over all for the price very happy with the product!

Purchased this last month for my Epiphone DR 500 to make a roundtrip flight from east coast to west coast. Well made case for the money and fits my guitar very nicely. Written interior Specs for the case were well covered on the manufacturers site, so I was fairly certain the fit would not be an issue. 6000 miles and no problems!

Very well made case, fits my instrument very nicely. Will get a coast to coast flight test in the next few months. Good cushioning in the interior and 3 solid latches on the exterior. Excellent heavy duty webbed hinge restraint between the case and lid. My guitar fell wthin the published dimensions and the case fits like a glove.
