I bought one of these four months ago with a new 12-string guitar. Already I've had to replace it. First off, the advertised specs from Gator are not correct. This has only 3-plies in the shell, not 5. The wood used is something called "luan," which I learned from some woodworkers I know, is a cheap grade of mahogany grown in the Philippines which is really only useful for veneer because while it's grain pattern is pretty, it is not a stable wood and is considered worthless for making anything from. How unstable this wood is I have only recently discovered. Secondly, there is only a small storage compartment for accessories. Put in a spare set of strings and a capo or some picks (but not both--there isn't room) and it is full. So if you need a strap, tuner, patch cords, and any other accessories, you will need to carry another bag along if you're playing anywhere. Finally, although I only purchased this four months ago, the shell is warping and the plies are separating. Gator has refused to honor its warranty, claiming the problem is excessive humidity, not any flaw in their materials or manufacturing. For the street price being charged for this, I recommend potential buyers consider a hybrid case like the Wolfpak. It offers as much protection, addition storage capabilities, plus a built-in hygrometer to monitor humidity levels. The polyfoam shell construction will not warp or come apart like the "luan" plywood shell used in the Gator case.
