This is the first Gator rack case I have owned. The molded ABS construction is great for strength and durability. I can also be places on a piece of furniture without scratching anything. It's locking stackable mold feature makes it a great choice for reducing the component weight of a rack system. The aluminum frames, latches and rack guides are also quality built. I have always used Plywood ATA cases but will buy Gator ABS stackable cases in the future.
This case is super light. I own the 4U shallow. I used to have the skb shallow but it was to short and the back panel was cheap. I preferred the gator shallow because i didnt want to lug around more case than i needed, and its the perfect length(not to long not to short in depth). I have my racktuner, head and wireless in it. It is built very nicely. The shell and rack parts are top notch. The only lower quality part of this case is the latches. When tighted they are indestructable and create a good seal, but when loosened they begin to feel like they arent nice, but this doesnot bother me at all, because i am careful with my equipment and not stupid and throw it around. I am very happy with my case. It also looks sick when your gear is in it. sitting on top of your speaker cabs.
I had looked at different brands and none of the other brands had the features like the Gator case. I like the fact they supply you with the possibilities of mounting in the back if you like because they also have mounting rails in the back, which could also be used in the event you damage the front rails. This case is perfect for my crown xls series amps, they are held secure in place well because they also supply excellent rubber washers with the screws. Because my amps are only around 8" in depth this leaves room in the case to leave some of the cables connected making setups easier. The case is also constructed well and lightweight, after shopping around I couldn't find a better case for my needs. I plan on buying more cases from Gator as long as they keep this design the same.
