Overview

The Neo 212-II bass cabinet from GK's Artist series is now lighter and smaller than ever before-is a front-ported cabinet housing 2 custom-designed cast-frame neodymium 12" loudspeakers which deliver high sound output at a fraction of the weight of conventional speakers. A Paragon horn tweeter delivers your top end with brilliance and clarity.

The Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II performs beautifully, with consistent response from top to bottom, plenty of definition in the highs and midrange, and a fat low-end. It switches between standard full-range operation or biamped with GK's biamp system. Both Speakon-style and 1/4" connectors are provided. The Neo 212-II bass speaker cabinet is constructed from rugged 11-ply poplar, wrapped in heavyweight Tolex, and fitted with sturdy, interlocking corners and a 16-gauge steel grille. 600W power handling. 8-ohm impedance.

    Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

The rear control/input panel vibration is not audible to the audience so this is only a minor annoyance. I have not taken it apart to solve the issue - it's that minor (note: this is an older unit that I purchased used, but in beautiful condition). Everything else about this cab is as advertised. It projects surprisingly well for a sealed 2x12. Balanced sound, including low B. Easy one person carry, though the folding handles can pinch your hands if not careful. Love the sound of GK heads and this cab is a worthy partner.

      Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

I bought one of these almost 3 years ago.. It was a decent product that needed some design changes. Like the line out pins were positioned so that the cable release was up against the cabinet and needed to slide a pick between them in order to release it. Then the electronics started to buzz. It was repaired 2 times and the motherboard replaced but still it crackled and buzzed. (I found out why).
I will say the company was helpful and reliable as far as returns and warranty. No issue there.
since it could not be fixed they offered to send me the updated model for $100.00 plus shipping.
The new model rotated the pins and the cable releases as it should now. They added a line in so now I can plug in my phone and listen to my music and play along. Also added a head phone input.
Now, the WARNING.......DO NOT.... I REPEAT, DO NOT...PLACE YOUR CELL PHONE ON TOP OF THIS UNIT OR IT WILLL WIPE OUT THE ELECTRONICS IN SHORT ORDER.
They could use an upgrade and shield them to correct this I guess, but other than that, I can highly recommend this GK 2-12. My unit from last year was only 500 watt..which is way more than you'll need but the upgrade to 600 is always nice. And it is the same price.
I use mine for gigging out and it can easily cover a medium to large size room. Plus there a line out with a pass button.

      Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

Wow, I ordered this to go with my new 1001rbii. I had no idea how a 212 would sound since I've always played through 410 cabs. Definitely don't regret going with the 212. This thing has shaking lows and crisp highs. A very complete sound. I'll tell you right now that this cab alone blows my 600w 810 set up I had. This cab really brings out the GK growl in my opinion. Just to throw this in here, I'm a 5 string player. I cranked the bass on my bass, the amp and dropped my B string to A... It was amazing. Get this cab!!!!

        Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

I play Spector and Ibanez through an GKMB800 and this cabinet delivers. It delivers great bottom-end while still cutting through higher mids and I play with two overdriven MESA full stacks beside me in a classic metal band. I just added the second NEO2x12 Cab and It's rippin it up with a tone I love. Lots of headroom left on my micro MB800 too!! I am a GK man period. MXR Effects all around is serving me well also. Cheers.

          Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

I play Bass for a Metal / Rock band. I have a GK 1001RB II head and a pair of Neo 212 cabs. I can use one or two cabs depending on the venue. The cabs and head use a Bi-Amp system, whereby a frequency filter separates high and low frequencies into a 50-Watt high freq amp and a 700-Watt low and mid freq amp. These amps then power the tweeters and main speakers separately. The Neo 212 speakers are wired to accept a special GK 'Speakon' cable that carries the signal to the woofers and tweeters separately. The cabs are shipped with one of these special 'Speakon' cables; they only work in Bi-Amp mode when paired with a GK Bi-Amp head. The cabs may also be connected to standard speaker outputs on any amp head with ordinary speaker cables and used in 'full range' mode. A rotary knob on the cab adjusts the power balance between the woofers and tweeter when used in 'full range' mode. Bi-Amp mode allows me to overdrive the bass and mid frequencies without distorting (and potentially damaging) the tweeters, and can create an overdriven sound I really like.

The cabs are light enough to be carried by me alone without straining my back. They have decent handles in the side. I can fit two cabs in the trunk of my Jeep. The Cabs have shaped feet that interlock for stacking one on top of the other in 'portrait' or 'landscape'.

I have included the con, "breaks easily", and I should amplify this statement. The cabs seem to be very well made, but I wouldn't expect the Tolex covering to be bulletproof. Also, one of my cabs arrived from Musician's Friend with the tweeter hanging out of its hole. The hole was evidently a little too big and two of the 4 mounting screws that hold the tweeter did not have enough wood to hold the considerable weight of the tweeter during transport. I rotated the tweeter and put the screws back in so that there was a little more 'meat' of wood for the screws to bite into and it's fine. I emailed GK customer service to let them know about this. They replied within 24 hours and insisted that they replace the unit, and informed me that this was a known issue that they have now addressed by improving the hole tolerances on later models of this cab. I had received a version made before this improvement. They sent a new cab and a label to return the old one. Excellent customer care. Nevertheless, I think I'm going to be very careful with these cabs to keep them looking good and working well; they're not going to withstand being bashed around. Perhaps that is a downside of equipment designed to be light; it cannot be made as strong as a bank vault.

The guitarists in my band have Marshal Half-Stacks and the drummer plays with venom. My rig has the power to overwhelm everyone if I so wish. It has any tone I want. There is no system I know of that I would rather have.

          Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

I had played a 2x10 for many a years because it kept weight down. However, it never had the complete low end I hoped for. Upgrading to this NEO212 met the best of both worlds! It's lighter than my old 2x10, as well as got a more complete range in the low end. My is powered by an Ashdown ABM Evo III 510. Sounds great to finally be able to push the head some. The HF horn in it sounds good too. The folding handles are nice and well placed. Very easy to carry.

Excellent performance. Paired with Hartke Kilo. Awesome.

If I need more speaker, I'll add the NEO 115.

You want a top rig, these are the core parts.

              Comments about Gallien-Krueger Neo 212-II 2x12 600W Bass Cabinet:

I've been wanting to get away from the old school fad of 4x10s for several years after seeing a couple guys playing 2x12 or 4x12. The difference is night and day. I spent a lot of time trying out all the 4x10 cabs by live side by side comparison of Eden, Ampeg, Hartke, SWR, etc and the SWR Goliath III was the best ... and it was paid for so I waited until it started 'farting' on the low end of my 6 string bass. This time, I just did internet research and took a chance on the GK Neo 2x12. Now, you can talk about the amount of air you are theoretically moving, you can talk about the large percentage of people still falling for the 4x10 units but I am here to tell you this GK 2x12 shreds ALL of them. It don't complain about the lowest of low and covers the highest of high perfectly. It's warm, growly and punchy all the way through and makes a hole in the mix better than any 4x10. Did I mention it is half the weight?! I will be getting one more for when I play outdoor gigs and I won't even need the main sound system to blast away.

I have added it to my GK 4x10 neo cabinet, which i also run a Mesa Boogie carbine 9. When i shift into 4ohm mode it is like my amp has nitro added to it. It sounds full with just the right amount of bottom and top end to the whole cabinet sound. Very happy camper now!!!!
