I went to Guitar Center to hang out with a fellow bassist who was visiting from out of town. We plugged this thing into a 410 cabinet and I went a week later to buy it. This small head fits perfect in my gig bag or my back pack when traveling and now I don't leave home without it. I was at an outdoor gig over the summer that had an Ampeg 810 stack and head available and I put that amp almost full volume. Not feealing comfortable with the volume settings, I quickly took out my little critter and at 1/4 volume, I had everyone in the band looking at me in shocked because of the massive volume coming out of this little box. I recommend it to anyone requiring good sound and wanting to be heard. I've also have gotten good comments from sound engineers at different gigs. You won't be dissappointed.
I picked up the MB2-500 and plugged it into a Goldline 2x10 cab. WOW, the tone and low end are phenominal. I can't wait to get the Neo 4x10 cab and play out with this bad boy! WAY TO GO GK
I can not beleive that they made this head. Worth every penny and the sound is like having a Warwick Thumb with out having one. But now I have Warwick Thumb and now it shows how great of an amp it really is. Everything is perfect about it but one thing. When you carry it around the dial knobs ae easy to turn so you will lose your settings everytime. Wish they made the knobs tighter so that would not happen. But A+++ no joke. Low end with the clip off, it vibrates the air around you, like a Microwave. Mids and highs thick, punchy, and sharp to perfection!! This is an instence where size doesn't matter.
this head has completely blown my mind. you wouldnt think a amp this small could pack such a punch, but wow. i love that it is only 3 Lbs. i purchased this head along with the GK BLK 410 and the 115 and it sounds great. the amount of headroom with this amp is awesome as well. my band plays pretty loud, but i'm only having turn the volume up to 25%, it easily drowns out my guitarists marshall plexi stack. even at 3/4 volume, it wasnt distorting at all, just clear, amazing tone. i would easily recommend this head to any bassist wanting huge volume and tone with out spending too much money. awesome job GK!
I bought this about 3 months ago and was blown away by the performance. I have mated this with an Aguilar 2x12 @4 ohm. I barely have to turn the volume up on the Bass as there is so much power just fighting to be let loose. Great product.
Hi, I wrote the review about having the Peavey for 20 years. Well, this didn't even come close to lasting that long. 6 months is all it took. It started destorting the sound a few months ago and eventually popped a speaker in my Peavey TVX410 cab. I wasn't smart enough to figure it out then, so I replaced the cabinet thinking it was on it way out. I bought a Ampeg 410HLF and within a month noticed the same distorting sounds starting on it. I was able to get a spare head from a friend to verify that it wasn't another cab problem and today I went in to GC and traded it in for an Ampeg SVT3Pro. I'll not buy GK again, one failure was enough for me.
I never tested this amp, the combo amp I tested was mb combo with 2x12. However, it's generally the same thing. This little box has trememndous sound and power! 350 @ 8ohm, and 500w @ 4ohm! Amazing. I only have a neo112-II cab which is 300 @8ohm. And this little amp delivers 350 @ 8ohms; Even still this baby sounds loud, clean and clear. Soon to another cab of 200w of 8ohm to get 500w @ 4ohm. CANT WAIT!!! Buy this amp, once again don't let the look or size fool you! This fits right in your gig bag, carry it to a rehearsal or studio and you're all set!
