Overview

The Gallien-Krueger Goldline 500 is a bass amp head that was developed to complement the look and tone of the GLX series bass speaker enclosures. The GK Goldline series is an ideal marriage of affordability and outstanding quality.

The Goldline 500 bass head features a 500W, solid state amplifier and a foot-switchable boost "valve effect" channel. GK Gate-Induced Valve Effect, or G.I.V.E. technology, was developed by Bob Gallien in 1972 and is part of what gives GK its distinctive sound. The Goldline 500 bass head is made using the same quality components as GK's professional products, such as a high-current power supply for maximum punch and a toroidal transformer for greater efficiency. The adjustable contour and active 4-band EQ make it simple to dial in a great sound. The Goldline 500 delivers a warm, punchy tone with a fast transient response that not only sounds better, but feels better.

Music to my ears.

Comments about Gallien-Krueger Goldline 500 Bass Head:

I just bought this GK Goldline 500 and let me say it was a great buy. I play through a GLX 15 and a GLX 410. If you're looking for power and a great sound this is the one to get. Goldline is AWSOME.

POWER

Comments about Gallien-Krueger Goldline 500 Bass Head:

I have used the Goldline 500 for about a week now and it is "all you can be". Have not run it red line yet cause don't have hearning protection (>85dba). Trust me, drive this amp on 2 sets of 4-10 cabs and you might hurt someone. The pots are dirty/dusty on my GL 500 so still trying to loosen them up. All and all I'm happy with it. Can't match this at the price I paid.

Pure Ownage

Comments about Gallien-Krueger Goldline 500 Bass Head:

I've had this baby for about a year now, and I can't say enough good things about it. I picked it up on clearance and it's an absolute steal! I never have to turn it up more than halfway to fill up most bars without running through the pa or at our practice space, the bigger places run me direct anyhow and it has the output for it in the back. I love the fx loop which is something new to me, I had a cable go bad at a gig so I just yanked out the loop (use it only to run compression) and only missed a couple notes before I was heard again, if I were running in series it would have definitely taken longer and been more awkward. The db switch is invaluable for switching between my active and passive basses. It dials in my desired tone perfectly, cuts through the mix nice and tight with no muddieness. I'm running it through a Hartke Transporter 4x10 and a Peavy 15 cab. I get everything I want out of it and have had zero tech problems with it in the past year from gigging 3-4 times a month and practicing 2-3 times a week. I hope it lasts forever, sure there are lighter amps coming out lately but I wouldn't change a thing.

fart city

By aaron w

Comments about Gallien-Krueger Goldline 500 Bass Head:

I purchased the Goldline 500 when my Create BT220 fizzeled. I paid full price for the head and got the matching 4-10 GLX, and 4-10 BLX. Initally I was pleased, but a few months later the amp started fuzzing and farting. thats when I searched for reviews and found that I was not the only one. The problem is intermitten so occasionally I can use it for a few tracks. This amp has never left the studio. It does sound great, but only when it's working properly. That's when I use a GT10-B dir to PA. Do not take a chance on the Goldline.
