I tried this cab out when I went to GC to try out a few basses. This one was closest to the bass I was trying and it already had a cord in it so I thought...."why not". I plugged in a Ibanez Sr700 and man what a sound. I think it was plugged into a GK RB700. I dropped the bass down to a low C and It handled the lows beautifully. Now i'm questioning if I should keep my Acoustic B410 or not...
I owned this and had it paired up to 700RB head. I really liked the sound of the cabinet and was especially excited to use it in Bi Amped mode which allows you to take full advantage of the GK heads whereas you have 1 amp section powering the drivers and a seperate smaller amp powering the tweeter. I was pretty dissappointed though with the tweeter. If you turn the tweeter up loud enough to impact the sound, the hiss was annoying. To be fair I have found this to be true of most cabs with tweeters (some boutique cabs are exceptions). With the tweeters turned off it sounds great. I just didn't see paying extra for a head and cabinet with features I would never use. I currently run a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 through 2 SWR 2x12 tweeterless cabs and I am in tone heaven....for now :)
When I bought this cab I was on a bit of a tight budget. I was very surprised by the depth and punch of this cabinet. I have since been able to afford other cabs, but I have never bought any. Any time I play through something different (including an SVT 810) my band comments how they don't like my sound as much. So I'll be sticking with this one for a while.
